RED ROOF INN, ALBANY NY

RED ROOF INN, ALBANY NY

Seeing as we booked our Red Roof Inn, Albany NY stay through Hotels.com, I can’t leave a review on the Red Roof Inn site so I’ll leave it on my blog.  We checked in Friday Sept. 15 and checked out Thursday Sept. 21. Our 6 night stay was absolutely horrible.  The family in the room next to us had 3 dogs that barked constantly, night and day.  The guests would leave the dogs in the room unattended when it states in the hotel rules 1 dog per room and dogs must not be left in the room alone.  When the people came back every night around midnight, they were so loud and obnoxious, yelling, swearing and slamming doors.  When they took the dogs outside there was nothing but more yelling and fowl language.  I called the office Friday night, went down Saturday morning and was told they would be checking out Sunday.  The desk attendant did say she would call them and have them quiet the dogs.  Sunday morning I stopped at the office on the way out and yes I was complaining about the dogs AND people. The people were yelling and screaming all Saturday night telling the dogs to stop barking. This went on until about 3AM every night. The desk employee called the manager, who wasn’t all that helpful when she handed me the phone.  I told him about the constant barking, the noise and yelling both inside the room and outside.  He told me it’s the first he heard about it and why after 2 nights am I mentioning it. I set him straight, letting him know how many earlier times I had called and gone to the office, even giving names of those at the front desk. We left early Sunday thinking they would be gone when we got back, only to find they extended their stay.  I was told the office called them and someone had to be in the room at all times with the dogs.  Sunday night there was no change as was on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights other than having someone stay in the room during the day with the dogs, still barking.

Other not so good things were first night we arrived, there were only two bath towels, one hand towel and no face cloths or bath mat. Besides the unruly neighbors and dogs, I had to go to the office twice for toilet paper as none was left in our room when they cleaned.

When we checked out the desk clerk apologized for the unruly guests and dogs but was told because I booked through Hotels.com, they couldn’t give me any discount but she did give me a 15% discount on my next stay.  Like they think we will be back?  Not a chance and we have stayed at many Red Roof Inns, including this one in the past but never again.  I posted a review on Hotels.com site but I haven’t seen that posted yet, maybe they don’t want others to know that the management doesn’t follow their rules on guests or obviously don’t care about other guests.

Many hotels in this price range have a continental breakfast but this one only has coffee so if you’re looking for a quick small breakfast, this is not the place to go.  If you’re looking for a peaceful night’s sleep, this is not the place to go if they let three dogs in one room.  They told me this family had two rooms but still the rules say 1 dog per room.  If you have to go to the office for supplies, this is not the place to go.

I would like to think that Hotels.com would contact this Red Roof Inn on Wolf Road Albany New York location and let them know how disappointed we were but I won’t hold my breath on that.  Because of our experience on this stay, it’s hard to even give it a 1 star and I won’t even recommend it to others.

Be sure to stay tuned for my blog about The Landing Hotel where we stayed for the next three days of our stay!  One word.. BREATHTAKING!!

wow…so sorry your stay was awful. you can leave a review on yelp too. That hotel might be franchised but you can probably leave an earful here: https://www.redroof.com/contact-us#

Thanks for the info Terry! I forgot about Yelp. I also learned that some of the hotels our owner owned and not franchised. I’ll check into that link also. Wait til you read my review on the Landing! Thanks for visiting and the info
