Recent Experience with Domino’s Pizza
Do you let a company know when you are satisfied with a product or just when there is a problem? I like to do both but when something isn’t exactly up to standards, I still try to find something positive to mention. This is how I handled a recent experience with Domino’s Pizza.
I placed an online order and stopped to pick up the pizza on the way home from work. I order online for two reasons, the first is you get points for a free pizza plus they have great sale prices when ordering this way. The pizza smelled so good driving home and I couldn’t wait to bite into it. Or could I?
I was very disappointed when I opened the two pizza boxes. I had ordered them without garlic crust but they were loaded with garlic plus they were extremely well done, so much the crust was burnt in spots as was the sausage pieces. I didn’t want to call and complain but I also didn’t want Domino’s to think we were satisfied with our order.
I called them up and politely told them the problem and received an immediate apology and was given two options. They could refund the amount I paid or they would remake them. Since hubby and I were hungry and looking forward to pizza, I opted to have them remade. We live only about ten minutes from the store so by the time we got there, the pizzas were just about ready. The counter person again apologized and mentioned they have tried to get corporate to turn the ovens down but so far it wasn’t happening.
The new pizzas were done, she showed them to me, no garlic crust and even though they were still a bit on the dark side, we accepted them. The one on the left was from the first order and the one of the right was the replacement pizza made.
To our surprise, she even gave us a complimentary box of cinnamon bread sticks. I thanked her for remaking the order and on the way home we went. By the way, the cinnamon bread was delicious!!
Now to fast forward about a month later to today. Our taste buds seemed to scream PIZZA so once again I placed a Domino’s order online however this time I called after I placed it just to be on the safe side to make sure the “no garlic crust” was noticed.
When we got to the store, the pizzas were just coming out of the oven and the counter person brought them up, opened them and asked if everything was okay. The pizzas looked and smelled DELICIOUS! There was no garlic crust and I mentioned how perfectly golden brown the pizza was. She told me they finally got their oven temperature corrected and thanked me for the order.
Once we got home, I did a once over on the pizzas and they were perfect! The crust was lightly browned by oh so soft, the bottom wasn’t burnt and the toppings were perfect. Some pizzas are so greasy, the oil actually leaks through the box but I like how Domino’s has hardly no grease on the bottom and the crust is soft and chewy.
I usually order the basic cheese and sausage and cheese pepperoni but today I also ordered an Alfredo cheese with chicken that was mouth-watering delicious! After starting to eat it, I realized I should have added bacon to it so I could have had a chicken Carbonaro pizza!
So I had two different experiences at the same Domino Pizza location, the one that wasn’t so good ended up being remade plus getting a box of cinnamon bread sticks as a thank you was a nice gesture.
I was very pleased with the recent experience with Domino’s Pizza, the order was perfect all around, the looks, the taste and a reason to order from Domino’s again.

I just had an absolutely horrendous customer service experience with Domino’s. I will often post unusual experiences (both good and bad) on social media, but this time I was so exasperated and exhausted after dealing with Domino’s that I couldn’t be bothered. However, the manager did get quite an earful from me on how to provide customer service. I finally was given a credit, which isn’t what I was really requesting. I just wanted an apology and someone to acknowledge me as a valued customer.
I have given a few “earfuls” to different places if I don’t get satisfaction but on this occasion the counter person actually was as frustrated about the ovens as I was about the burnt pizza. Some times, it seems like the managers think they can do know wrong like it sounds in your situation Leslie and will not apology for any reason. Sorry you had a bad experience.
I would have complained about the burnt pizza myself. I have ordered from dominos in the past. I only had one problem with them and that was the black cheese pizza. I ordered a cheese and it was burnt worse than the one you have shown here. It was so bad we could not eat it. After that, I will not pay until I see that pizza. There were good about it got a free pizza. But, I ended up having to cook dinner that night.
Problems occur at many different businesses and establishments, but I think what gives them a plus is how the situation is handled. If we didn’t live close to Domino’s the first time, we would have had peanut butter sandwiches probably Brenda. Glad they resolved your problem with another pizza even if it was another day.
Like you, Martha, I’ll do both I had a couple of lousy experience with Christmas gifts (coming from China). Amazon and the other private vendor both got an earful. There were partial refunds all around, which I wasn’t happy with, but I was tired of dealing with it.
On the other hand, when someone provides me with excellent service, I’ll let the employee know how satisfied I am and if the manager is around, I’ll let them know what a valued employee they have.
I think this is the best way to let people know of experiences Jane, good or bad. Letting a manager know of a good employee is as important as complaining about a not so good one. Thanks to visiting.
oh great, now I’m hungry for Pizza! I’m glad they did what they could to correct the problem, its so much easier to have something nice to say when you know a company has at least tried to remedy the situation!
I have a few pieces left Vicki! LOL When a company makes good on a problem, I look up to them much more.
It’s easy to only bring up the negative issues, but I really appreciate that you also focus on the positive! You are a great consumer. 🙂 Thanks for the awesome post!
I love to focus on the positive, no matter what the occasion Chondra! Being positive is me and I try to teach my children and grandchildren the same. While we have negativity at times, I try to always add something positive in the same thought. Thank you for stopping by and the great comment.
That is why I choose Papa John’s instead of Domino’s. You get to choose if you want your pizza well done or not. I guess my funniest moment when ordering pizza being messed up was when the delivery person gave us the wrong order. Luckily we didn’t live far from the other person that order. So we was able to switch and fix it.
We now can choose how well the crust is now that the ovens are fixed Sandy. We don’t get pizza take out often, but it’s a quick and easy dinner! Thanks for stopping by.
You have taken the right decision to at least let them that there is problem, & your motto works as they sort out their problems. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Bushra, I try to turn a negative into a positive in what ever I do. Bottom line, the pizza was delicious! Thanks for visiting!
