A Season of Angels
Before technology came about people would curl up on the couch and get excited to read a book. I loved reading and that was one of my favorite things to do. Fast forward to the computer age and now we can read a e-book or even listen to an audio book! Yes, the old fashion way of reading a book slowly became a thing of the past to many. I am one of the people who hardly read a book now! But because of my blogger friend that I met through the Ultimate Blog Challenge I have started reading books again. Vidya loves reading and she shares so many interesting reviews in her blog. This is one of her book reviews and I love this book! https://www.ladyinreadwrites.com/book-review-the-wonderful-things-you-will-be/
Last month Hurricane Florence came through our area and knocked out our power for a few days. We had to conserve our phone batteries as we didn’t know when the power would be back on. That meant no Facebook, no catching up on my blogs, no internet period!!! I was wandering around the house wondering what to do, I couldn’t bake, couldn’t sew definitely couldn’t go outside for a walk but then it hit me. I COULD READ A BOOK!!!!
A Season of Angels took place in Cape Light around Christmas and is more like two stories in one book. Adele was originally from Cape Light but moved to Vermont with her husband years ago. Their family was torn apart by an old grievance after her husband died and she drove back to Cape Light to try to end the feud with her sons, she so much wanted to bring everyone together for the holidays. Things weren’t going as Adele had hoped for and she was ready to give in and go back home.
In the meantime, a grad student was visiting the same place to find out about the legend of Angel Island. He was doing research in the Historical Society when he meets a local undergrad who helps him with information. Jonathan and Tess hit it off and began to get proof of the magic of Angel Island and Cape Light.
Back to Adele, she packed up and headed back to Vermont with a heavy heart because she wasn’t able to get her family back together. But God must have listened to her prayers because she had car trouble just out of town and ended up having to stay over Christmas.
Thank you Vidya for getting me back into the love of reading a “regular” book!
I am a big Thomas Kinkade fan. I always think of my grandmother when I think of him.
He really captures his audience Carol. I’m looking forward to ready the others in this series. Thanks for visiting!
How wonderful, Martha!
It sounds like a Hallmark movie plot! Enjoy the rest of the series.
I, too, love reading and every Christmas Mom and Dad brought me 2-3 books. I couldn’t wait to begin reading them! They are just magical! I still have some of those childhood books. Just so happens, I have some reviews of various memoirs on my blog post today. Such a fun post!
Thank you!!
Amy
This book would make a great movie Amy and with such great descriptions by the author, I could picture everything like it was a movie. I just visited your blog, loved reading what was on your desk! Thanks for visiting!
Do you consider reading a book via a book reader to be the same thing? I still read physical books although I do get books on my Amazon Fire. I would say I am 50% of each. I love getting absorbed in a good book be it fiction or non-fiction.
Hi Paul, I think you could call me old-fashion when it comes to reading books. I like having a physical book in my hand where I can hold the page to turn as I’m reading one. I also love using bookmarks. I’m the same way with cookbooks, I do have a Fire too but I like to feel the paper. Thanks for visiting!
Nothing beats holding a ‘proper’ book, though I do read and write 📚 and Ebooks.
From your brief review, the author seems to have a great writing ✍️ style.
That’s me too Cherry-Ann, I like to hold a book when reading it. Looking forward to reading the others in the series. Thanks for stopping by!
