Q is for Quite a Few
Q is for Quite a Few!
For the A to Z Challenge I thought I might have problems coming up with a Q word but after thinking about it for a few minutes I realized that Q is for quite a few words! This blog will be a bit different from the others because I’m going to write about a few Q words. So here to the Q!!
The first word is QUITE as in Quite a Few words. That’s a fairly simple explanation. Here is a list of some of the ways this word is used:
“I have quite a few angel statues.” “I’m not quite finished writing my blog.” “There is quite a change in the weather.” “The dress is quite large.”
Another Q word is QUIET. Some people get the spelling QUITE and QUIET confused but if you pronounce it, the words are easy to spell. “Please be quiet, my grand daughter is sleeping.” This is a word that refers to an absence of sound.
“Quick, hand me a towel!” “I’m going to finish the project quickly.” QUICK or QUICKLY is to proceed or do something promptly.
“Do you have a quilted bedspread?” “Have you ever done quilting?” QUILTING is done by placing batting in between the face fabric and a lining fabric and either machine or hand taking it together. Many people make beautiful hand quilted spreads and wall hangings.
My grandmother hand embroidered these Sunbonnet Sue quilt blocks why back in the 1950’s. My mother then put them together in a quilted wall hanging about 20 years later. I will cherish this treasure and pass it down to my granddaughter.
QUALITY is a word that means some thing of high grade or excellence. As a adjective, it means concentrated expenditure of involvement.
“The window treatments we fabricate are of high quality.” “It’s nice to spend quality time with your family.”
Of course the letter Q wouldn’t be completed with a QUEEN. Some countries have Queens which are a female monarch or the wife of a king. When prom season comes around, a King and Queen is usually crowned at the prom. Plus if you play cards, you always see the Queen there!
So there you have my Q words for the A to Z Challenge. If you are participating in this challenge, please let me know so I can read your stories.
This is a great reference list for next year’s challenge 🙂
My mom collected angels, which I inherited. I have some of the same as you.

Thanks Ankita, I love spending time with my family and even the quilted blocks, being made by my grandmother and mother, are so special to me. I think of them every time I see the quilt and that’s always as it’s hanging in our stairway. Thanks for stopping by, I just read your latest A to Z, your blogs are very informative.
