Perfect Weekend Treat
I love sharing my quick, easy and delicious meals that are healthy too. But once in awhile I need to cross over from healthy and today I’m sharing a perfect weekend treat!
The other night was ice cream night and I’m sharing my recipe for a chocolate milk shake. My granddaughter gave me some raspberry KitKats for Valentines day and are they delicious! Alexandra mentioned I should add some to my milk shake so she broke up four KitKats and added to the blender and chopped them up. Next I added 4 scoops of chocolate ice cream and blended that with the KitKats. Yes I said FOUR scoops! I added some Almond milk, maybe about 1/4 cup and a 1/2 teaspoon of Almond flavoring then continued to blend together.
I blended the ice cream and milk together until it was smooth and poured into a glass.
Now usually this would be the perfect milkshake but not for me. I had to add a huge layer of whipped topping with a cherry on top! Now this is the perfect milkshake!
But wait, according to Alexandra, it needed sprinkles on top! She got out the jar and sprinkled red sugar sprinkles on top. NOW THIS IS THE PERFECT WEEKEND TREAT!! Have you noticed the price of milk shakes if you go out? Some are up to $10.00 for one milk shake! I can get a half gallon of ice cream and a can of Reddi Whip for less than $5.00 and make lots of milk shakes. Of course I always look for sales and grab the BOGO free Reddi Whip every time I see them. What can I say I’m frugal (or cheap) even when it comes to grocery shopping!
Alexandra made her milkshake from two different flavors of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream but I didn’t get a picture of her super creation! Lia opted for a cone with chocolate ice cream while curled up with Pop. Yes this is a delicious recipe for a perfect weekend treat!
If you think a milk shake might not fit in your healthy eating plan but you still want a treat, try my Organic Almond Joy bars they are oh so good! http://themarthareview.com/organic-almond-joy-bars/
That looks totally delicious! I initially wondering what the chunks were in the bottoms. Then I realized that it was the KitKat color lol.
Oh these raspberry KitKats are delicious Wyn! Alex came up with the idea to chop them up before adding the ice cream so they would be more uniform.
Looks refreshing!! Especially made with Almond Milk! YUM!!
My granddaughter has started drinking Almond milk and I’m following!
Yummy! This does look delicious.
It was Sarah! The hint of raspberry and almond was a awesome blend.
My mouth is watering and now I’m craving chocolate.
Time to make a milk shake Victoria! Thanks for visiting.
All righty then, Martha! Way to make us think decadent! That shake sure sounds satisfying! I had to go look at your organic almond joy bars, and they are right up my street. I may have to make some! But here in AZ, we would store them in the frij, as the days get warm so easily. Do you store yours in the frij? Thanks for the great snack ideas!
Martha, that looks so good. Now I want one, lol. It also reminds me that I have coconut mile in the refrigerator. Have to figure out what to do with that. Maybe I will stroll through your In the Kitchen section and see if you have a reciepe. If not, Pina-Colada’s here I come, lol.
You could use coconut milk in shakes and smoothies Samantha. I love experimenting with different ingredients.
I love Almond Joy (they are the ones that went missing from my kids’ Halloween candy stacks back when they were actively trick or treating — not so much since they both became teens)..
And that milk shake is droolworthy
LOL I did the same thing when our kids were younger, loved the Almond Joys and Mounds Vidya! Yes the milkshake was delicious!
That looks so good.
We all need a treat now and then Amanda.
