Pennies from Heaven Plaque

Yesterday’s blog was about some pennies I found that were sent down from my mom and dad. Today I’m going to be working on a Pennies from Heaven Plaque!

My granddaughter send my a picture of a plaque made with dimes and thought it would be great for my pennies. Allison knows I love finding pennies from my loved ones and after she sent me this picture, I know I had to make one!

It was perfect timing since I found the two pennies yesterday, one right after the other.

I decided to start it now even though I don’t have enough to fill the heart up yet, but I’ll fill it soon I’m sure! I’m going to get a cool looking piece of wood and draw the shape of a heart on it. I’m not sure if I will fill in the outside edge first or start in the center with a small heart and build on that until I reach the outside edge.

I will then add something about my mom and dad, maybe the poem I wrote for my mom. I don’t have all the details yet, I just know I want to make a pennies from heaven plaque.

I have a jar of pennies that I have accumulated so far and I’m off to a good start! Hopefully I will have my plaque completed by the April Ultimate Blog Challenge!

How thoughtful of your granddaughter and what a great idea. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your plaque in April.

That is a great idea Martha. Do you know that Canada has stopped using pennies. Products are priced to the penny but the total is rounded up of down as appropriate when paying or receiving change. No rounding is needed when paying electronically.
I used to have a lamp made from a one gallon wine bottle. I had to add pennies into the bottom of it to give it enough weight to stop it from tipping over when there was a big shade on top. After the pennies were no longer in circulation, I donated the bottle with the pennies to a local charity. They were not too happy because they had to put them into paper rolls so that the bank would accept them.
Now I have two songs ping-ponging back and forth in my mind: Pennies from Heaven and Singing in the Rain.

Mom puts a penny in many different places the only reason is to say hi love you 2

  4. Sounds wonderful, Martha! What a great way to remember them.

  5. Now, dimes I would save. Pennies probably not.
