Orange with Cloves Decoration
I have so many Friday Story Time by Lia topics that I might have to start writing two blogs a week to get them all in. I’m sure Ma will let me sneak in during the week because all my stories are so exciting! Today I’m sharing my orange with cloves decoration I made for my mommy’s Christmas present! These are so easy to make and when finished they smell so good!
All you need is an orange, some cloves and ribbon. Ma helped me wrap the ribbon around the orange and tie a loop at the top so mommy would be able to hang it up. Next I push cloves all around the orange until they fill up the spaces between the ribbons.
I had to push the cloves in carefully so the stems didn’t break off but hard enough to poke through the orange peel. It took patience but I was so happy when I finished mommy’s Christmas present.
Look how pretty my orange with cloves decoration is and it smells so good!
I wrapped it with tissue paper and put it in a purple cup instead of a box because purple is mommy’s favorite color. I even used purple paper to make mommy’s card! When mommy opened it she was so surprised and told me it reminded her of when she was little and use to make these!
These are nice to hang in the kitchen or even a closet because as the orange dries out the mixture of the cloves and orange smells so good. Do you like pretty smells in your kitchen or closet? These are quick and easy to make so let me know if you make one! Thanks for visiting Friday Story Time by Lia, I’ll be back with another exciting story soon!
When I was a little girl I would make them . I hadn’t made one in a long time, but still remember the great smell.
Yes the smell so good Brenda. Glad it brought back memories.
OMG!!! How cute!!!!!! This is a great idea for a kid’s activity. Definitely going to let other moms know about it.
I love coming up with way but unique craft projects for Lia. These smell so good Marcie!
These do smelly lovely. We made them one year as gifts for our teachers. Nowadays I do them with apples. I find it is easier to get the cloves into but I think the oranges are much prettier when they are used. Making memories is such a wonderful thing. Loved the photos – they captured the special story time you had.
Hmm making them with apples, Lia will have to try that! Something about the orange and clove combination gives an awesome smell.
This takes me back. I remember making orange clove decorations when I was a kid! It brings back some great memories! Thank you for reminding me of those!
It brought memories for me too Dominique! I’m glad it jarred your memory alao
Oh, my gosh – my mom used to make those. I haven’t seen one in years. What a beautiful memory to conjure – and such gorgeous photos. Thank you so much for sharing, Martha!
I’m so glad this brought back memories Laura. That’s what I like about so many blogs I read, they being back memories.
Lia, I’m trying to remember how old/young I was when I made one of these. Yes, they smell so good! And when they dry out they still smell good! Thanks for the reminder!
Lia says, “Thank you Kebba! They do smell so good and I’m going to make more soon!”
Such a fun and pretty project! I like the smell of oranges and cloves (and cinnamon for that matter. Just thought it’s important to mention, haha!)
I love the smell also Tamara! Maybe sprinkle with cinnamon and wrap with tulle!
That’s so cool Lia. Good job on your project.
Lia says, “Thanks Amanda, I like doing craft projects!”
