So I found out too late to post this yesterdary but July 9th was National Don’t Put All your Eggs in One Omelet Day! With me loving omelets and adding a variety of ingredients I made a delicious one!

Now according to FAQs on their site, it says not to put milk in with eggs as it will make the omelet watery. I remember way back when my grandmother made omelets and she always added milk! Since I still have to work on my NOT MILK review, I decided to use that in my omelet.

For my latest omelet I added 3 eggs, diced onions, a splash of NO MILK, tossed in some fried ham pieces and of course a big handful of cheese, mixing it all together.

I always like to save on washing dishes so I cooked my omelet in the same pan I fried the ham in. When it was just about ready, I loaded to top with more cheese and fresh diced tomatoes. My omelet flopped as I flipped it but still tasted delicious.

I like to add ingredients but hubby isn’t as adventerous with his meals so I only added onions to his with a side of the fried ham. I had boiled potatoes left over from the previous day so I fried them with the ham and made a delicious brunch for omelet day! Omelets are great for any meal, I even make them for dinner.

Now for a spelling lesson on omelets! Is it OMELET or OMELETTE? I’ve always seen it spelled both ways but never checked to see which one was correct. It seems like both are correct! According to Grammarly, OMELET is the spelling used in American English and OMELETTE is the spelling used in British English. My last bit of info, did you know that the omelet or omelette originated in France? So there you have it, spell it either way, they are delicious!

I am always amazed by these (Inter)national so-and-so days! Also I always miss the ones I would like to observe, like chocolate day .
I certainly had no idea there was a National Don’t Put All your Eggs in One Omelet Day! On the other hand I definitely know that omelettes originate from France, as do Crêpes, yum! Coincidence has it that I made pancakes today.
I smiled about your not using milk by using NO MILK ;-))))

Some of the National days are good blog topics Tamara. I didn’t realize there was even an Omelet day! But pancakes are delicious too, those are Lia’s favorite!

That’s funny, because when I first got to this post, I looked twice at omelet and said to myself that I like the other spelling! Now I know!

    Glad you’re enjoying your eggs!

I had always wondered which was the correct spelling Laurie until I did a search on it and found out why! What we learn on the internet!

When making an omelet, you should use water instead of milk because it makes the omelet lighter and fluffier. You should use water instead of milk when making an omelet. This is because water will make the omelet lighter and fluffier. Eggs are a delicate food, so you don’t want to weigh them down with too much liquid. You also don’t want the omelet to be too dense, so using water instead of milk will help to achieve the perfect consistency.

    • Martha says:

Well my grandmother always used milk so I have always use it too. I whip my eggs first then add a small amount of milk. Maybe I’ll do a comparison between milk and water and post a blog about the difference Paul!

Martha, I’m drooling, and ready to go make breakfast (about 10:15am on the West Coast). I like your style with adding extra ingredients and having omelets anytime your tummy desires. As far as the spelling goes, “Omelet you figure that out!” LOL. Sending loads of laughs (lol) and virtual hugs. Jaime

I love adding different ingredients to omelets Jaime. My favorite is using the “broccoli crumbs” from the bottom of the bag! It’s a great way to use up every little bit of broccoli! I also like to add spinach when I have it on hand! They are great for any meal!

  5. Martha, I also totally missed that July 9 was Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Omelet Day!! Would you mind if I do a piece on eggs tomorrow or the next day? Your omelets look great! Yummy! You use some of my favorite ingredients! Hey, do you ever chop up leftover cooked green beans and add them to your omelets? I do. Recently, I had some leftover (shredded) hash browns, and I put those into an omelet as well. If I ever mess it up, I just call it a scromblet. 🙂

    • Martha says:

OMG I never thought of added green beans Kebba but I have added spinach. I’ll try to save some left over beans (I love them so much there’s hardly any leftover from dinners) and try them next time! I have added hash browns, I toss in whatever I think goes with it, even dried cranberries!

  6. Cheryl says:

The omelet AND the potatoes look delicious. My daughter and I always looked forward to having breakfast for dinner.

    • Martha says:

Oh yes, this is one of my favorite anytime meal Cheryl! I always say if I don’t have time for breakfast, I can have it for dinner!

  7. Amanda Gene says:

I love Omelets! I tried to make one last week, but it ended up being scrambled instead of an omelet. It was still very tasty regardless of my mistake.
