No School for Friday Story Time by Lia
Hi everyone, mommy and I returned from Indiana on Tuesday but I haven’t been back to school yet! It was cancelled Wednesday because a snow and ice storm was expected in Little River SC where I live so mommy and I stayed at ma’s house playing in the snow until about 9:30 pm. Ma’s Wordless Wednesday blog has some snow pictures and ma and I even made snow Angels. It didn’t start snowing until late Tuesday and by Wednesday there was about four to five inches of snow on the ground. It’s been so cold that along with the snow came ice and the roads were very slippery.
Nothing was open Wednesday and at night it got cold again and the roads were covered with ice so no school Thursday. Since mommy had to work yesterday I got to stay with ma all day. We were ice skating in the driveway!
Even though we didn’t have school I still had e-learning work to do. I did my worksheets early because we had plans for the rest of the day.
I had fun writing about my favorite animal, a narwhal and the animal research project about Snowball.
Now for the fun projects of baking cookies and cupcakes. My neighbor Judy came over and we had fun baking together. Even when baking I was learning my fractions. The cookies called for 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of flour but I needed to put in half at a time. So when ma showed me the amounts on the measuring cups, she asked me how many of the half cup would I need for the sugar. I told her two half cups and for the flour I need four half cups. I like baking and learning at the same time and Judy and I had fun decorating the cookies after lunch.
I also made strawberry cupcakes. We didn’t have heart shaped liners so I used a round ones and turned them into heart shapes! The cupcakes were so good with the little heart shaped sprinkles.
When mommy got home from work, she started making a snowman for ma’s front yard!
I made a big snowball and threw it up to Pop, he always liked snow.
How do you like our snowman, I named him Mr. Snowy? I hope it stays cold for a little longer so Mr. Snowy can hang around for a few more days.
Ma found an picture from 2010 with a snowman Pop helped my mommy and her brother and sister make. She made the one yesterday in the same spot.
Oh and guess what, we have another snow day today so I’ll be doing more e-learning and frosting the cupcakes! Mommy dropped me off at ma’s house at 6am and since it was so cold we went upstairs to snuggle with Snowball. Then it was back downstairs for mini pancakes and hot cocoa! Now time for e-learning and more exciting projects for the day! I’ll see you next week for the last Friday Story Time by Lia for January.
