No More Sticky Post
Some may remember the other day my post came up as “sticky” and I had no idea why. I also had no idea how to change it. I got a few suggestions from blogger friends but I still couldn’t get it figured out. But as Lia and I were writing her Saturday blog I figured it out! I have no more sticky post!
This happened on the same day my blog theme was updated so not sure if that had anything to do with it. But if it wasn’t that, here’s what I think might have happened. On the right side column of my blog it shows the Status, SEO, permalink, categories, tags, etc. When going through the sections I must have clicked “Stick to the top of the blog” by accident when changing the Author back to Martha. When I tried to figure it out, I didn’t even notice that. But when I was clicking the areas needed for Lia’s blog I clicked “Status & visibility” link and that’s when I saw the check mark on “Stick to the top of the blog”
This is how the right side of my blog looks like when in edit mode. I click the arrow to open the different topics.
Thursday night when we were getting Friday’s blog ready I clicked on Status and visibility to change the Author from Martha to Lia and I noticed the check mark on “Stick to the top of the blog” and that rang a bell!
I unchecked the “Stick to the top of the blog” and when I went back to my blog list there was no more sticky post listed! I had a feeling it was a simple fix because I’ve never seen that on any of my posts before. I like it when I can come up with a solution myself and in turn share my tip with others in case the same thing happens to my blogger friends.
As for why my preview picture didn’t show up on the same day my “Sticky post” did, I don’t have that figured out yet but the two blogs I’ve written since correcting my Sticky have both shown the correct preview picture. So I guess I’m back in business!!
I’m happy that you figured it out. We all learn something new every day 🙂
Yes we do Jojo. I like learning something then passing on the results to others.
Yay Martha! I am so happy you figured this out. I too, am on this new blogging journey trying to manage WordPress in my first week of blogging. Your blog post will be very helpful to others on the same path, I really appreciate you sharing this information you learned.
Sending lots of love and gratitude,
Jaime
Thanks for all you and your friend’s help also Jaime. I figured it had to by an easy fix!
WordPress updated and my preview pics are also not coming properly
I wondered if it might have something to with the update Amrita. It’s strange, it didn’t work, then two days it showed my preview pic then the next day it was gone again.
Thanks for sharing this. I am sure it helped someone here!!
I like coming up with a solution and sharing with others Kate.
Good job, Martha. I’m not very techy so I don’t understand what is meant by a sticky post. I just mess around till things work. I suppose it is good to have an understanding. I would be more efficient and maybe my page would look better. But I have an attention span of a gnat. Therefore I will live with what I got.
That’s usually how I find solutions also Lily! Thanks for visiting.
Martha, perfect solution! I do want each post to stick to the top of my column series, so I usually check that sweet box.
I never knew what a sticky post was Kebba! We learn something new almost daily!
Thanks Martha,
I will remember that to show a better post when the last one was a little dull.
Now can you explain the unhappy rectangle on the right?
Blog on!
Glad it gave you an idea Doug. As for the rectangle I have no idea what that is! Thanks for visiting!
Always great to learn something new. 🙂
I’m 72 years old and still love to learn new things and see if I can retain what I’ve learned Amanda!
