NEED SUGGESTIONS and HELP WITH FRUITS LOW in SUGAR

I’m doing something a bit different today for Day 27 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge, I’m asking for information!   I started a healthy eating plan the beginning of July when I was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.  I cut out most sweets I use to eat, my daily dose of super sweet tea plus also white bread, white rice, white potatoes and macaroni.  The surprising thing is, I don’t even crave sweets!  I drink flavored fruit teas or water with frozen berries and that gives me a different kind of sweetness.  I actually enjoy researching healthy eating plans and my latest is researching is sugars in fruits.  So here is my Challenge to my readers, the newest “gadget” I just received for review is a Juicer so I need suggestions, ideas, help with what fruits and vegetables that are low in sugar and easy to digest.  I know there is a difference between Fruit Sugars and Refined Sugars but still sugar is sugar.  I also know that fruit has many other benefits including vitamins, minerals, fiber, water and antioxidants.  I also would love to hear from others that juice so I can learn which fruits and vegetables are best to juice.

I love most kinds of berries and I found that Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries, Watermelon, Figs and Cranberries are all under 10 grams of sugar.  Also cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes have under 10 grams plus olives have 0 grams!

I stocked up on some fruits and vegetables today at the market and ready to beginning my juicing experience!   I love pineapple however that is very high in sugar – 17 grams for 1/2 cup.  Oranges have 12 grams per orange, and a medium banana has 14 grams.  But with all the other benefits in the fruits and vegetables I’m hoping they will out way the high sugar content.

So if any of my readers are into juicing or have any helpful information to share about the difference between fruit sugars and refined sugars, I’d love to hear from you. Please leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to read up and learn all I can on using my new juicer and continuing on to healthy eating.  If I use any of the information on a future blog, I will give you credit for your help. Thanks for helping me gain information on my healthy eating venture.

  1. The sugar present in banana is not a problem.

Me too Martha. Here’s what I know – less fruit more vegetable for juicing. I’m actually on the keto diet and can’t eat most fruit. I can have berries and watermelon which I love. It seems counter-intuitive to consume fat, but that gets the body to actually burn the fat for fuel which is good for the liver.

Juice things like spinach, cucumber, zucchini, anything citrus, kale, bell pepper (I’m allergic so can’t have it), tomatoes, sweet potatoes, asparagus, celery and you’ll be good. You add the berries or whatever fruit you can eat. I’m cutting carbs and no sugar.

If you want to try a great sugar replacement, try Swerve. They have granulated and confections. It’s great except I don’t like it in coffee so I don’t drink that much coffee anymore. I love coffee but not without sugar. I do have it in tea though, hot or cold and it’s pretty good. Swerve is erythritol and is natural and doesn’t have that horrible taste that Stevia has. Ugh!

Also, you can use some essential oils. The citrus oils are good for NAFLD. doTerra has a blend called Zendorcine that is to detox fatty liver. There are others.

Good luck with your lifestyle change.

Thank you SO MUCH for all this information Julia! Some of this is so confusing, good carbs, bad carbs, some fats good, others not. It sure is an exciting journey since I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease but I’m already feeling healthier after only a few weeks! I haven’t heard of Swerve, will definitely check that out. I love essential oils and never know they were good for NAFLD. I still have a lot to learn but I’m exciting! Thanks again for taking the time to send me all this valuable information!
