National Sweetest Day
I didn’t even realize there was a National Sweetest Day but hubby and I celebrate this every day since Christmas Day 1965! Pictures of my sweetest from when we met in 1965, to my Junior Prom in 1966, wedding in 1967, a photo from 1974, my 50th high school reunion in 2017, anniversary dinner in 2019 and Christmas 2022 We’ve gotten older but our love keeps growing stronger.
So I read that National Sweetest Day is celebrated on the 3rd Saturday in October and candy and sweets are given to your sweetheart and friends. Ways to do this is share a little treat to someone, leave a card or note for a neighbor or surprise them with a bouquet of flowers from your garden.
It also suggests to share a candy or donuts! Since I can’t share a treat to you in person, I’m sharing my delicious peanut nut butter fudge recipe!
Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe
Here is Lia’s and my delicious peanut butter fudge recipe for my friends on sweetest day, it’s so quick and easy to make!
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup peanut butter
Bring sugar and milk to a boil for 2 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla. Pour it in a greased 8ā³ x 8ā³ pan (I used butter) and refrigerate until hardened. Cut in chunks and eat!
Time To Make Some Donuts!
You can also share donuts on sweetest day so Lia is ready to share some Krispy Kreme donuts with you!
But if you want to whip up a quick batch of donuts, this recipe only has TWO ingredients, 1 cup of self rising flour and 1/2 cup of plain whole milk yogurt! Deep fry in oil then after they drain on paper towels, roll them in cinnamon and sugar. This would be great to make a batch to share with your neighbors!
I’m surprising all my blogger friends with some of Rich’s beautiful roses for National Sweetest Day for you to enjoy! So how will you spend your National Sweetest Day?
It’s always interesting t learn about the National so-and-so Days! Due to my living in Switzerland I typically only ever learn about them when they’re over. I did, however, one year, mark “Smurf Day” in my calendar beforehand.
It’s probably better to enjoy your sweet treats by just looking at them š
I love the pictures that display the development of your relationship š
Thanks Tamara, Rich and I have so many memories and many more to make.
Happy National Sweetest Day! I love all your sweets, Martha.
A 2-ingredient donut?? I am certainly going to have to try that! Of course, since the sugar and cinnamon don’t count as ingredients, I will make sure to add A LOT of those!
I am allergic to peanuts, so I have to pass on the fudge š
Thanks for sharing as usual!
The donuts are delicious warm Paul so roll them and eat them as soon as they cool!
Those photos are so gorgeous, thanks for sharing them with us! And yum, fudge and donuts – two things I’ve only ever bought, never made!
Joanna, the fudge is so easy to make and so are the donuts. Of course you have to eat the donuts as soon as they cool, they are so good warm!
Oh mi goodness what easy to make yummies! I am doing a readathon I might have made the fudge yesterday to keep for today if I knew LOLOL. Your life with your honey in photos is fabulous and inspiring! Keep that love growing!
Thanks Julie, we’ve had many fun times together and we aren’t done yet, 58 years together on Christmas Day 2023.
Beautiful photos and post. Iām hoping to spend this day with a sweet win from the Phillies tonight!
That works Elisa!
Martha, yikes! I missed National Sweetest Day! Except… I was at a dinner tonight that was also my birthday party! We had homemade cake and ice cream in my honor! Thanks for another super post!
Well that sounds like a perfect Sweetest Day even if it was a different day! Sounds like you had and awesome birthday Kebba.
