NATIONAL SPOUSES DAY
Most of my steady readers know how much I love my husband but when I saw today was NATIONAL SPOUSES DAY I had to brag yet again. My spouse for over 50 years is loving, caring, sweet and kind. But not only is Rich my spouse, he is my business partner and we have worked side by side in our business for over 50 years. We are together 24/7 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Throughout our 50 years of being with my spouse, we have gone through loving moments, happy moments, sad moments, and tragic moments but through all our moments, each one has made our love stronger every day.

Rich grows the most beautiful roses and they are usually budding or in bloom from March to December. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t bring me a rose every morning or evening. Look at some of the gorgeous roses from Rich’s rose garden.
There is one thing we differ in and that is our personalities. Rich is more on the serious side while I’m the happy-go-lucky kind of gal. He hardly ever smiles for a picture and when people ask why, he says that he tried that once and didn’t like it. Now of course he says this with a straight face as everyone else is cracking up. I love these pictures as we were heading to my 50th high school reunion last year. I was taking a selfie shot and asked Rich to smile. I told him I think we need a retake and in that picture, Rich actually managed to find a smile! LOL
As we celebrate NATIONAL SPOUSES DAY, I am taking a look back at our wedding on July 29, 1967 and our 50th wedding anniversary on July 29, 2017. Fifty wonderful years making memories with my spouse has been a dream come true!
If you are or have been a spouse, I’d love for you to leave a comment on how many years and any special memories.

Martha, what a lovely post! I love Rich’s roses! 50 years! Way to go! My partner and I have been together since 1991 and had a wedding in 2000, and the legal one in 2008 (in CA). We picked up our then 6 year old son early from school, to go to the Civic Center for the civil ceremony. I told him that we were getting married and he replied, “Again?”. Too cute. Congratulations on your epic relationship. Loved reading about it!
OMG, out of the mouths of babes, too cute! W have actually been married 3 times. Our 1st was our wedding in 1967, then 25 years later we renewed out vows, this time I wore our oldest daughter’s wedding gown and our children and 3 of our grandchildren were there. The third was for out 50th anniversary, renewing our vows once again. I remember at our 25th, some of our friends that were there were surprised because they told us they thought we were already married. LOL I’m looking forward to March when Rich’s roses start budding once again! Congrats on your 27 years together! continue to make those memories!
Mazal tov on 50 years. I know I can’t make that milestone- and it would take yet another spouse! So, I know how much effort (and love) it takes to achieve this result.
Thanks Roy! I remember when we were celebrating our 40th anniversary. One of the guests came up and said he had been married 40 years also…………but with 3 different wives! It does take effort but the love makes it easy to achieve. Thanks for visiting!
I chuckled when l read about you asking him to smile. I have to do that when l take pictures of my hubby. He never smiles and l have to remind him. His roses are beautiful and you make a lovely couple. Congratulations. We have been married 11 years, 1st marriage for both of us.
Glad to know I’m not the only one with a non-smiling hubby Kemkem! I wish you could smell the roses, some smell like raspberries! Congratulations to you also, 11 years is a great start! Keeping hugging and making memories and you’ll get to 50 without realizing the years have gone by.
What a wonderful relationship you 2 have!
Thanks Andria, we have made so many memories and many more to come.
Martha, I have always admired the two of you. You are two souls that were made for each other. I wish you both much happiness and love. I only hope that Mark’s and my relationship is still this strong when we hit 50 years.
Awww, thank you Brenda we’ve always said it was love at first sight for both of us. We continue to make memories that we hold forever. You and Mark will have the same!
How sweet Martha.
Thanks Brenda, we are in it for the long haul!
