National Princess Day
Today is National Princess Day, November 18th, the day to celebrate the Princess in every little girl!
Maybe you know a Princess who shines because of her gift of laughter, making everyone around them smile. Maybe you know a Princess who shines because of her great acts of kindness and heart of gold. Another Princess may be bold and confident, ready to take on every new challenge!
Since Lia was born, she has been called a little Princess by so many people. I’ve always said Lia was born with a smile and for the past three years she has shared her smile with so many people. I have received so many comments on some of the photos I share saying just seeing Lia smiles brings a smile to their face as well.
Others that see her in the yard waving and smiling as they drive by will stop and smile back at her. If someone is having a bad day, Lia’s smiles can turn their frown upside down.
Lia also loves to bake cookies and bread and deliver them to some of our neighbors. Her biggest thrill was taking cookies over and visiting with our elderly neighbor. But all that changed when COVID arrived and all Lia and Ruthie could do was wave to each other from across the street. This was hard for both Lia at 1 1/2 years old and Ruthie at 87 years old to comprehend. How do you explain that because of a virus you can’t visit your friend to the very young and the elderly.
There was one day that Lia saw Ruthie sitting on her porch and she looked so sad. Lia and her mommy painted some hearts with Ruthie’s name on poster board and held them up so Ruthie could see them. It brought a smile to Ruthie and Lia knowing they were “visiting” each other even though it was still from across the street. http://themarthareview.com/missing-our-neighbor/
Easter came around and still Ruthie and Lia couldn’t visit each other but that didn’t stop her from making a cute Easter basket filled with cookies and other goodies. Since we still couldn’t visit, mommy and Lia stood in our driveway while I ran across to Ruthie’s house and dropped the basket off on Ruthie’s porch. This brought so much happiness and smiles to both of them. http://themarthareview.com/missing-our-neighbor-part-2/
Another way that Lia spreads her love and smiles was when we pulled out the chalk and she started drawing hearts in the drive way. Every person that went by stopped, blew their horns or waved and told Lia how happy it made them seeing all the hearts.
Mid 2020 we had the heartbreaking news that Ruthie was moving to assisted living. No more waves from across the street, no more putting cookies on her porch. But we had to go see Ruthie before she left. Lia made a goodie basket of things that Ruthie liked for snacks and a few toiletries. She put on her mask and delivered it to her. Both were so excited to be together even if just for a short time.
COVID has changed so much and taken so many people in a few short years. But the one thing it hasn’t taken is all the love, compassion and smiles that Princess Lia gives to everyone she passes.
So whether you are a Princess of Royalty or a Princess that shares smiles and acts of kindness, today is National Princess Day, it’s your day to enjoy it to the fullest!
Whatever our gifts, there is a Princess in each of us – even if you don’t know it yet!
I love Lia’s smile her baking gardening and activities. It’s sad about Ruthi but Lia made her happy .That’s always a great gift
Lia is always happy and singing away while gardening or baking! She does have a way with her smile Amirta.
What a bittersweet post!
The baby picture is proof that in fact Lia was born with a smile.
You are a wonderful neighbor. What you and Princess Lia did for Ruthie will not be forgotten. How is Ruth doing at her assisted living facility, have you heard from her?
Yes indeed, Lia was born with a smile and hasn’t lost it! Ruth is doing okay, we haven’t seen her because of COVID restrictions but her daughter always let’s her know we are thinking about her. Thanks for visiting Tamara.
Another Hallmark Holiday. Glad Lia loves it.
Well this day is perfect for Lia, Roy!
Look at the sweetest little princess out there! And yes, Covid changed a lot of things. We’ve collectively been through a lot in these last few years. It is fun to watch little Lia thrive through all of it.
Lia has been wearing her mask since she was about 1 1/2 years old, half her life! But she’s great about wearing it and it’s like putting on her socks and shoes, something that must be done Julie. Hopefully one day they won’t be needed.
Lia is my 2nd favorite toddler. She is too precious.
Awww, thanks Angel!
What a precious blog post! I love Lia’s nature of loving deeply. She truly is a princess and you are so blessed.
Lia shares so much love, compassion and smiles Larada. She is a caring little one just like her mommy was at her age and still is today. I’m sure Lia was continue her caring ways.
What a lovely post! Tell Princess Lia I said hello and that she is a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul!
Lia said thank you Dominique (with a little smile for you) and hello back.
Martha, I had no idea it was National Princess Day! I’m used to seeing Lia feeling good, feeling joy, and spreading love. But the infant image really is amazing! Clearly she already knew she had arrived in the Right Place, a place of Great Love.
Lia was born with a smile Kebba! I love that she spreads her love and joy to everyone!
