National Little Red Wagon Day
Today is a busy day! It’s WORDLESS WEDNESDAY and the last Wednesday in March. Oh and it’s nine months until Christmas! But today is also National Little Red Wagon Day where we celebrate memories in the making and the ones already made in our little red wagon. Radio Flyer founded National Little Red Wagon Day in honor of its 100th anniversary and the Registrar of National Day Calendar® declared the last Wednesday in March as their day in 2016.
Last June, a friend of mine asked if Lia would like a little red wagon that she has had for over 30 years. Lia was so excited when we visited with Jan to pick up her ‘new’ wagon! I’m sharing some photos when Lia first received her Radio Flyer at 10 months old. As soon as we got home she “checked out” the mechanics. Lia loves her little red wagon and helps GGpapa do yard work and harvest vegetables from our garden. If the weather doesn’t let her go outside she sits in the wagon and watches her favorite TV show!
But once it’s nice, Lia loves to take her “babies” for a walk outside in the sunshine.
Lia loves pulling her little red wagon around and this is something she can pass on down to her children and tell them the story of how she received her first Radio Flyer little red wagon when she was 10 months old!
Lia’s message to Jan, “Thank you Jan for passing down your little red wagon to me! I will continue to make lots of memories throughout the years and pass it down so even more memories can be made as the wagon goes rolling through fun times!” 🥰
You probably already figured it out, it’s hard for me to have a Wordless Wednesday post, I just can’t seem to keep the keys quiet! Do you have a Radio Flyer little red wagon?
If you missed my last WORDLESS WEDNESDAY blog, it shows there is light at the end of the tunnel! http://themarthareview.com/light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel/
My daughter had a Little Red Wagon and I used to push her up to the grocery store in the Wagon. She would sit in the back and my Nephew who was a baby would lay in the front of the wagon.
Awww, the memories of the past Glenda! We got a wagon with wooden sides for our granddaughter (Lia’s mom) when she was 6 months old. Lia has since claimed that one also! She loved riding to the mail box in the wagon!
I remember my Red Flyer wagon. And, my Red Flyer snow sled. They provided me- and my brother- endless hours of fun when we were tykes. I’m sure my parents were less thrilled when I found the streets with steep slopes and the hill that ran into the Southern State Parkway that was a perfect snow hill.
But, I wasn’t required to make their lives easier, was I?
Aw yes, those snowy hills Roy! But we survived and had fun! Great memories live on, thanks for visiting.
I’m so glad radio flyer still makes the old school style wagon. They are so cute and exactly the sort of nostalgia I long for right now. Thank you for posting this, Made my day!
They are so well built Julie, this one is over 30 years old and other than a few paint chips has at least another 30 years to go!
I don’t remember having a red flyer wagon. Yet, I am sure that there must have been one that lived in the time before my memories were solid and more than just fragmented images.
Seems like we miss out remembering things in our early years but I’m hoping that will change with Lia. I’m planning on putting all her blogs together in book form and give it to her when she turns 18. She may not remember many of the things she has so much fun doing now, but once she reads them she will probably get a good laugh! Thanks for visiting Alice!
Such a cute post. Happy little red wagon day.
Lia has three wagons, each a different size Amanda. One belonged to her mommy when she was Lia’s age! She can pass them down through generations!
