National Junk Food Day

Yes it’s another Hallmark day! Today is National Junk Food Day! It would have been great if this fell one day later for Wordless Wednesday because I have so many yummy picture s of junk food.

This is a cake I made for Easter dinner one year. Yes it was dinner! I ended up in the ER Easter morning and this is the only part of dinner we had but it was delicious! http://themarthareview.com/no-easter-dinner/

Would this satisfy your sweet tooth? A new store opened in North Myrtle Beach last year called The Sweet Life. There is SO much junk food filling the aisles but it’s also candy that was around years ago so it brings back memories too.

I love cotton candy and it’s pure junk food! This picture could be a Throwback Tuesday photo, it’s two of my granddaughters from about ten years ago.

Have you ever had Chester’s cheese puffs? I love cheese puffs but these are the best. It’s like eating super cheesy popcorn.

A super ooey gooey chocolate covered pretzel stick is definitely on the junk food list.

Smores are great when camping out and around the campfire. That was my favorite parts of camping when I was younger. But now they make snore kits and you can make a snore right on your kitchen table!

How I wish I could find Raspberry M&M’s again A few years back they came out but for only a short time I voted for them but I guess no one else did.

My granddaughter loves to experiment when having ice cream. She invented adding cereal to ice cream about 10 years ago. Just recently ice cream companies have brought out the same idea. Alexandra should have patented her idea years ago! She is adding chocolate chip cookies dough to her ice cream, cone it’s so good!

Now this is what I call top of the junk food! These are chocolate cake batter pops rolled in sprinkles .

From the look on Lia’s face she loved the cake pops that Alexandra, Lia and I made after I received the kit for a product test. This is a blog I wrote last January with more about the cake pops and other sweets that Lia made!! http://themarthareview.com/baking-with-gg-mama/

Would you believe I don’t eat junk food much anymore? Two years ago I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and I went cold turkey and took sweets, greasy foods, white bread, rice and potatoes out of my diet. Through diet and changing my eating habits I was able to reverse this diagnosis without any medication. My fatty liver is under control along with 26 pounds that left within a few months of starting my healthy eating plan. I have introduced some foods back in moderation but the one thing I have not touched since July 2018 is sweet tea. I would have a super large cup of McDonald’s sweet tea every day one the way to work. After giving it up I realized I was basically drinking a gigantic cup of sugar each day!

So while today is National Junk Food Day what will be on your plate?

Today is also our grandson Zachary’s 22nd birthday! Where has to time gone?? Happy Birthday Zachary!! Pop and I love so much!! On a side note, Zac doesn’t eat ANY JUNK FOOD!!!

  1. This post is filled with amazing photos – and so tempting… Junk Food Day – who knew? I’m more of a salty person as opposed to the sweet options. If I had the option of candy or chips, it’d be chips all the way!

  2. How fun! National Junk Food Day sounds like a great permission day for anyone who has been trying to eat healthier food. Loved the pics – especially the ones of your grandkids.

That’s a lot of food. But the cake pop in Lia’s hand made me want to make them.Delicious post.

Those were so much fun to make Amrita! It was a kit but very easy to make with just a packages cake mix and altering the recipe a bit. Lia’s all into sprinkles when making cookies and cake!

  4. My junk food is chocolate and jelly beans. Even together!

  5. All of that looks great I love when I find old style candy I have not had in years. I remember finding root beer barrels. They were my grandfather and my favorite.

There you go again Brenda thinking alike! My grandfather would always have a bag of root beer barrels stashed in his room. When I got home from school he’d have a few waiting for me, loved them then and still love them now!

  6. Jojo Reyes Jr says:

All the foods mentioned and pictured here are very tempting to eat, and yes, I’ve eaten all these in the past. I try to stay away from eating sweets but I’m having trouble resisting at times 🙂

Wow, I feel a sugar rush coming! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Amanda Gene says:

My junk food is crackers and cake.
