Yes, today is NATIONAL CREATIVITY DAY and everyone is creative in their on way. If something inspires your or motivates you let your creative energy shine through.

According to the National Calendar Day website, back in 2018 Hal Croasmun and ScreenwritingU.com founded National Creativity Day to celebrate the imaginative spirits everywhere and to keep encourage them to keep creating what they love to do. May 30th was the day proclaimed to celebrate this day each year.

I’m not an educator or teacher, just a mom, grandmother and great grandmother but I’ve learned over the years that children can be so creative in their own way. Being creative can start when they are small babies building with blocks or drawing a picture or when they are older and become creative in music or art . Sometimes their passion may even turn their creative hobby into a business. When we teach our children to be creative, they pass it down to their children and grandchildren. Creativity keeps your brain energized and always thinking of new and exciting ways to show how you can be creative.

When I watch Lia work in her garden, do a craft, sew, cook or paint, it amazes me how she is not only creative in her work but enthusiastic in what she is doing plus sometimes she learns a new skill. Her imagination has no end and she is so proud when she completes her creative project.

Yesterday was no different, mommy surprised Lia with a garden plaque complete with paint kit. Of course she had to get started on it right away. When Lia paints she always uses lots of bright colors and her garden plaque was no different. Instead of using the small paints that came with the kit, I brought out an outdoor paint kit my grandson sent me to paint my new Angel statue in mom’s memory garden.

The colors are so vibrant and Lia made her own creative decision on which color to use. Lia’s newest thing is “signing” all her paintings. I like how she made her “A” going over her flower. Talk about being creative when she couldn’t fit it in the space after the letter “i” in her name.

The other thing with Lia, when she completes a creative project she is so proud of herself and shows it to everyone around!

The paint dried and Lia went out to put the butterfly garden plaque in her flower garden but once outside she decided she wanted to put it by the Angel in Mom’s memory garden. Whether you have a young child or one that is a bit older, be proud of them when they show their creative talent and encourage them to try new things, let their creativity shine!

When painting on a plain canvas Lia uses her creativity to come up with some awesome paintings. She has surprised many people with her paintings and they all love them.

Maybe someday she will have her own studio that highlights her creative work whether it be baking, painting, sewing or even music. For National Creativity Day, what is your favorite creative project? http://themarthareview.com/my-painting-studio/

I was not aware that there was a “National Creativity Day” but, then again, we make special days out of a lot of things today. I think I will practice piano today :)The little girl is charming. Wishing you a great day!

What can I say!? Space I always love reading your posts, Martha. Today feels more like a rainy Wintory sort of memorial day weekend day. I am just trying to take it easy and do some cleanup. I’m trying to be creative in the sense of minimalizing justify why I probably don’t need to keep something I have not used in a long, long, long time.

Thanks for sharing another great post. Enjoy your creativity!

That’s a great way to be creative Roy by minimalizing. Since I did my decluttering challenge I’ve become very creative in so many ways.

  3. Hi Martha and Lia, WOW! Lia, you are so talented! I am seriously crying over here at the amazing beauty! The bright colors are perfect and fabulous, I love both paintings very much. I especially like the canvas because she covered the entire piece with no white space, that is super impressive for such a young artist. I love how she placed her art at the angel’s feet. Great job signing too, my signature is the same since I learned cursive in the third grade, the cursive J and B make a butterfly symbol! Sending lots of love and gratitude to you both. Keep creating and spreading that awesome sunshine!

Your signature is so unique Jaime. Lia noticed the butterfly right away when she saw it on your paintings. The very first painting in canvas that Lia did was totally covered in paint with no background showing. She is her own person and creates some interesting drawings! Hugs and love from Lia and me.

She’s talented. I really like the last painting — I love the colors!

  5. Engendering creativity in our children (and grandchildren) is one of the key things we can provide our next generations. Thanks for sharing!

I so hope even half the things that Lia and I do together will stick with her as she gets older Roy. She loves using her brain!
