National Chocolate Day!
If your like me and love chocolate, every day is Chocolate Day but today, October 28th is National Chocolate Day!
There is nothing better than a rich, dark, moist piece of chocolate cake! I remember when I was young, my grandmother would serve me chocolate cake with a big glass of cold milk for breakfast.
Some Chocolate Facts:
Chocolate was first cultivated about 3,000 years ago by the Mayans and Incas.
Chocolate has nutrients called flavanols that help to increase blood flow to the heart
Dark chocolate can help raise good cholesterol levels while lowering the bad cholesterol.
It also has fiber and antioxidants.
Switerzland is one of the top countries for chocolate consumption.
White chocolate is not “chocolate” even though it originates from the cocoa plant.
Chocolate is good for hot or cold days. I love a chocolate ice cream sundae, drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with whipped cream on the hot sunny day (but I can eat this ANY day) and there is nothing better on a cold, chilly morning to start my day with a hot cup of cocoa, again topped high with whipped cream.
Some of my favorite chocolate snacks are Lil Bites, the small brownies and are so delicious with milk and chocolate hazelnut cookie sticks. Of course I must have chocolate pudding and when in a hurry, I always have pudding cups on hand but love making the Chocolate Mounds pudding.
My “couch office” is never without some kind of chocolate to keep me going. Whether it be Brownie Brittle, Hershey’s candy or delicious Brookside Goji & Raspberry flavored covered with Dark chocolate, I’m set to keep my energy up while I’m blogging.
Check out the blog from Foodimentary.com for National Food Holidays so you don’t miss your favorite!
There are so many different kinds of chocolate treats from candy, truffles, brownies, fudge, ice cream, cakes, and hot chocolate just to name a few. I can eat it everyday! Do you like chocolate? What is your favorite?
