NATIONAL BIG WIND DAY
NATIONAL BIG WIND DAY
Today is National Big Wind Day and the first song that popped in my head about wind was “Wayward Wind”
May artists have sung this song but my favorite is Tex Ritter also known as one of the original singing cowboys. He was born January 5, 1905 and in 1928 he was making radio broadcasts and moved into films in 1936. In 1942, when he was 37 years old, he was the first act to sign on to Capitol records who was newly created. He had a successful recording career with them until he passed away on January 2, 1974. Tex has such a wonderful voice and I love how he sang “Wayward Wind”

Speaking of wind, the have you ever been in heavy wind storms? We live in the south where tropical storms and hurricanes are part of the weather, historically from June through November. The winds in a tropical storm are from 47 mph to 62 mph and the hurricane winds can blow well over 100 mph. We have been through both and when tropical storms hit, the news and weather channels might say, “the wind is only 50 mph.” Let’s just say I don’t want to be standing in a 50 mph wind.
So while today is National Big Wind Day, I prefer to listen to Tex Ritter and the “Wayward Wind”
“The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind.” I had to evacuate for Matthew and Irma. No answer to be found blowing anywhere.
So you know all too well about the “big wind” Jeanine! Hoping we don’t get any this season. Thanks for blowing by!
Out of all the bad weather choices – wind makes me nervous. We have lots of trees around us and I’ve seen so much damage the wind causes. Not to mention when a tree falls on a power line. We could be out for days. I’ll take rain any day. 🙂
Same with me Elisa, wind scares me especially when a storm happens in the night. Rain is okay unless it turns into flooding and mixing that with the wind is something I can do without. Thanks for visiting.
