My Theme Song

My Theme Song

So for Day 24 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge the suggested topic asked was, “If your blog, business or life had a theme song, what would it be and why?”  As soon as I read this, My Theme Song popped right in my head and I’ve been singing it all day!!

My hubby and I are constantly on the go, we get up early (WAY EARLY) and start our day.  We have owned our interior decorating business since 1967 and are usually in the shop by the break of dawn.  If we don’t have early appointments, we work on fabricating the window treatments, moving from one project to another as we complete them.  Break time is when a client comes in and we work on ideas for their windows. Back to stitching when they leave and between 2pm and 3pm it’s time to head out on the road to measure for the new clients. Now usually when work is done for most, they head home to relax.  WHAT THE HECK IS RELAX????

I prepare a delicious dinner from one of my awesome shopping deals and after we are finished, my darling hubby and life long friend and partner of 53 years cleans up my cooking mess and does the dishes.  (We are a team whether at work or home) Now work at the shop is done, dinner is done, but don’t thing I’m done working yet!  Now I have the fun part of working on the computer. Yes I said fun, even though some of it is work. I computerize my thoughts of the elegant designs we are creating, get the quotes completed and send to the clients.  I’m always in a hurry whether I have time or not.  Now that the “home work” is completed, I can have my fun computer time! I work on my earning sites and write a blog or two then I check Facebook to read all the awesome blogs from my blogging friends.  I scurry doing this, hurry doing that and I worry about getting things done but I don’t know why.  The things are always there for me to do and they aren’t going anywhere.

We’re in a hurry to get things done

Even though our work is fun.

We rush and rush and really try

In our hearts we know why.

So I would have to say my theme song would be “I’m in a Hurry and Don’t Know Why” from the Alabama Band.  If you listen to their song, then sing my verse above with the same tune, it really has a ring to it!

  1. Oh, how cute! I don’t think I have heard that song. And I am not sure what my theme song would be. Maybe the closest thing to the hygge work I do would be “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things?”

Oh Jeanine, that theme would be perfect for you! The Alabama Band got there start in Myrtle Beach where I live. I love their songs, they are more like stories to music. Another great one from them is “Angels Among Us”. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!

this made me smile… your energy reminds me of the energizer bunny ::)

    • Martha says:

I like to make people smile Vidya! Hubby and I are always on the go, we’re the energizer bunny or timex takes a lickin’ but keeps on tickin’ team! Thanks for visiting!

Hey, that is a very catchy tune and rhythm that should motivate anyone to get things done. However, I think your lyrics are much more positive.
Personally, I’m more relaxed in moving through life. I subscribe to the “stop and smell the flowers” approach. I get things done, but on my schedule, not someone else’s drummer.
I love reading your post, it is like sitting across the table from you sharing a cup of hot chocolate. Do you ever have time to do that?
    Blog on!

    • Martha says:

I’m generally a positive person or at least I like to them I am Doug. I do like your thought about stopping to smell the flowers. That’s what I do as we’re rushing out the door for work! LOL Hot chocolate or sweet tea is always ready!

  4. Alexandra says:

I can totally see that being your theme song, you’re always rushing your work even tho you enjoy it and it’s not going anywhere 😂

    • Martha says:

LOL, yup gotta ‘git ‘er done Alexandra! Even though they aren’t ready to be installed yet, I would rather have them stacked and waiting. Then we can start rushing on another project. Keep on keeping on, love you!!

  5. “Pay me, oh, pay me, pay my money down,
Pay me, or go to jail, pay my money down…”

I don’t remember who recorded that or where I first heard it; pretty sure I first heard it on a recording, possibly part of a movie or TV documentary.
