My Road Trip to Find a Puppy

Hi it’s Lia but it’s not Friday. Maybe I should change my Friday Story Time by Lia to just Story Time by Lia since I have so many exciting stories to tell you on different days. Today I’m sharing my story about my road trip to find a puppy. The topic today is content that delivers and my puppy sure delivered some love!

It was early morning on Tuesday September 15th, it was still dark out and papa buckled me in my carseat with my jammies still on about 3:30am. Mommy said we were going to see a surprise! This trip wasn’t as long as when we went on a road trip to Indiana but it was still long. It took about five hours but I slept for a few more hours while papa drove.

We were about an hour away from the surprise when papa stopped for gas and mama took me in the gas station to get dressed. She grabbed my shorts and shirt and my sneakers. Oh wait, she only had one sneaker! Mommy look in the backseat, on the floor, under the seat and there was no hidden sneaker! Now it wouldn’t have been so bad but my socks were in the missing sneaker! After realizing the sneaker was not in the truck we found a Walmart right near the gas station so mama ran in and bought me a new pair!

Finally we were back on the road, all dressed and look at my new sneakers!

As we were getting closer to where we were going mommy had the bright idea to check RING to see if my sneaker was in the driveway. Sure enough, my sneaker and pair of socks were in the driveway! Mama figured she dropped it as she was loading everything in the truck and since it was dark when we left, no one saw the lone sneaker laying in the driveway. See it right there near the arrow?

We finally got to the surprise and was I surprised! We pulled into the driveway and there were lots and lots of chickens running around the yard. I thought wow, I’m getting a chicken! But then I saw something else…. a lot of little puppies!

At first I was so busy watching the chickens run around I didn’t think much about the puppies until I saw some tiny ones in the yard. They were only five weeks old and too young to leave their mommy yet. But there were three puppies that kept running around us. One was mostly white with a cute face and very fiesty, jumping up and down on me, one was mostly black and very tiny and the other one was black with gray and the cutest little face. This one kept coming over to me, I think he was saying, “please pick me!”

So after a big decision, this is my new puppy! Now we had to come up with a name for the sweet little beagle pup. Just before my birthday my neighbor gave me a little dog statue and his name was Rusty. We looked at my new puppy with his rust colored feet and some rust spots on his nose and everyone liked the name Rusty so Rusty it is.

Rusty was 8 weeks old on July 16th, the day after we brought him to his forever home. We gave him a bath the next morning and then I cuddled with Rusty until he was dry.

He cried the first night a few times but Wednesday he settled in. I took him out in the backyard on the leash and showed him all around but I told Rusty he couldn’t go in my garden.

We’ve only had Rusty five days, he eats great, he hasn’t chewed up any of my toys, has only had a few accidents when he can’t get to the door quick to go outside to go potty. But hey, I still have accidents too! Papa always gets up early so he takes Rusty outside and they set and watch the sunrise while I’m still fast asleep.

Mama even clipped Rusty’s toenails and he didn’t mind it! If you start when they are puppies they get use to the nail clipping and they are fine with it.

Every morning as soon as I wake up Rusty and I run around and play in the yard. He loves to chase after the ball and he even brings it back to me so I can throw it again!

The other day I looked at Rusty and he was sleeping on my favorite Nemo Minky blanket! Mama decided he needed his own Minky so we made him a blue one with little puppies on one side! Now both Rusty and I have our own Minky blankets!

Rusty is so tiny, he weighs about 5 pounds and his fur is very soft. Mommy says I have to be very gentle with him because he’s just a baby. I love my forever furbaby and I think he loves me too!

Thanks for visiting my blog and meeting Rusty, I hope you enjoyed my road trip to find a puppy blog. These are just a few more photos of me bonding with Rusty, we can grow up together just like mommy grew up with her little poodle puppy! I’m sure you will see many updates on Rusty as he grows and does new things. Last Friday, on the 18th, the topic for the Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge was one that was all video. I posted some videos of Rusty that my mommy recorded if you missed it. http://themarthareview.com/welcome-rusty-to-the-family/

Beautiful! I wish I could take one of the pictures and do a painting of it and send it to you for Christmas…Getting up early, must be a military thing- Papa is grandpa right, or is it Daddy? New socks and shoes too- bonus surprise! A new pair for Rusty to have his scent on and no one else’s, just by brushing up on them……The Ring has its perks….. Could be an advertisement for the Ring- just saying- I think it would tug at the heartstrings and also be a promoter of pet adoption. Although in the ad going to local shelters would help no one complain about pet adoption- CONTACT RING! and see if you can sell the story for an ad! It would sell, kids, puppies, who couldn’t tune in and keep their attention on the ad? Isn’t that what ads are meant to do?

Papa is great grandpa, better know as Rich. We were just wondering when Rusty could have an old shoe without him thinking he can chew them all up Pam. I’ll have to contact RING and see what they say! BTW I didn’t know you did painting! Tell me more about that please!
