My Picture Frame Project

Every month Home Depot has a Kid’s Workshop Project. Since COVID they don’t have their Saturday workshop group but they hand out the kids to put together at home. Since today is Friday Story Time by Lia, I’m sharing the latest project. Look at my picture frame project I built and painted!

The February project is a Valentine’s Day picture frame and I started building it as soon as I got it! First I make sure I have all the pieces in order then I get my hammer. The hammer I use was ma’s grandfather’s hammer and she used it when she was a little girl like me! I carefully hammer the nails on the frame edge while ma helps hold it steady. After the frame is put together, I slide the clear pieces for my picture into the frame.

Painting it was fun. Now I know it’s a Valentine frame and maybe it should be painted red but I had another idea. Since yellow is my favorite color and purple is mommy’s favorite, I decided to paint my frame yellow and purple!

I had to let the paint dry and the next day I added the stickers that came in the package! See my little pin? Each project comes with a little pin and a certificate of completion. I take my finished project and certificate back to Home Depot and they sign it for me.

My frame is done and now I had to find a picture to put in it. I had an idea! My blogger friend Brenda sent me little butterfly molds and I had made some tiny butterflies and that’s where my idea came from. I was drawing a picture of a shark and unicorn head and then I copied the butterfly. I got a little upset because I messed it up but ma said it looks beautiful! So this is the drawing I put in my Valentine frame! Snowball is watching me while I make my tiny butterflies.

I love doing all kinds of projects but the Home Depot kid’s projects are so much fun!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my picture frame project. What is your favorite project to make? I like all kinds of craft projects but also sewing and garden. Speaking of gardening, I’ll be sharing my garden projects real soon because spring will be here soon! Thanks for visiting my Friday Story Time by Lia and I’ll see you next week!
