My Ice Cream Machine

ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM WHO WANTS ICE CREAM?? So the other day I wrote saying my Friday Story Time will now be just Story Time by Lia since I have so many blog ideas I can’t always wait until Friday but today is Friday and I have a delicious blog to share with you. It’s about my ice cream machine I got for my birthday from my neighbor friends.

I was so excited when I opened a big present from Steve and Sue, it was a Tasty Cuisinart Ice Cream Machine! It’s so much fun making different flavors of ice cream and so far mama and I have made four different kinds.

Vanilla Ice Cream

View Post

This was the first time I used my ice cream machine so mama and I had to read the instructions before we started making the vanilla ice cream.

The first thing we had to do was mix the ingredients in the mixer. After they were mixed together you have to put in the refrigerator for one or two hours. Then pour it into the ice cream maker and watch the ice cream being made! Mommy and I are patiently watching the ice cream churn.

Look at my first attempt at making ice cream! It looks and tastes just like the ice cream you buy in the store but it so much more fun to make your own!

Pineapple/Coconut Ice Cream

The next flavor of ice cream mama and I made was pineapple and coconut. I wasn’t sure if I would like this flavor but since mama loves pineapple and coconut I thought it would be a good choice. After mixing all the ingredients from the Vanilla ice cream recipe I added crushed pineapple and shredded coconut. Mama also omitted the vanilla flavoring and added coconut instead. Of course I had to sample it from the bowl before we churned it. When it was done churning I even washed and dried the ice cream machine so it would be ready for next time.

Doesn’t this look SO GOOD!! Can you see the chunks of pineapple and shredded coconut mixed in the ice cream? We finished the dish of ice cream with whipped cream, drizzled maraschino cherry juice and more coconut on top!

Peanut Butter Ice Cream

Doesn’t this ice cream cone look like it came from an ice cream shop? While now I can serve ice cream at Lia’s Garden Cafe! The peanut butter ice cream so easy to make just add some peanut butter to the other ingredients. The recipe called for adding chopped peanut butter candies but since we didn’t have we omitted that. But it was delicious without them!

Chocolate Ice Cream

I was checking the recipe to make sure we had all the ingredients to make the chocolate ice cream. We got them all and ready to go! It’s fun watching the ice cream churn in the ice cream maker and of course it’s fun to like the beater! This chocolate ice cream is so creamy and delicious!

Some of you may remember me telling you about another neighbor, Judy. She lives right next to us and I love going over to visit her. We came home the other day and Judy had surprised me with a beautiful shiny butterfly for my garden. She left it by the front bush with a note saying, “To Lia, Love Judy.” Then that night she brought over some ice cream! So I thought I would take her some of the chocolate ice cream I made. Was she surprised at how delicious as we sat in her outdoor room eating ice cream! I gave her a dish for her son too, I hope he had some too because Judy and I were eating quite a bit!

I have so much fun with my ice cream machine, there are so many different flavors you can make and mama and I have even been creative with adding different flavorings to them. I’m going to make a few different flavors of ice cream and a batch of cookies and invite Sue and Steve over to Lia’s Garden Cafe for an ice cream party!

Did these ice cream pictures make you ready for some ice cream? Having an ice cream machine is so cool, I can make ice cream whenever someone wants a treat!

  1. Always love that you need vanilla extract to make chocolate…

LOL that does make one scratch their head Roy. When I’m baking I like to substitute almond for the vanilla. This is a trick I learned from my mom when she had her cake baking business.

Well, your ice cream looks delicious Lia! And it looks like you live in a warm enough place to enjoy it outside in October! Now you make me want to have an ice cream machine.

  3. Oh Lia — these look delicious! If I could come to visit, I would love to try the Peanut Butter Cup! (But the CHocolate sounds wonderful too!) What a fun project to do with your Mama! Let us know what other flavors you try!

  4. Pineapple and coconut is my favorite!! Though vanilla is my first love. I don’t eat ice cream as often as I used to, but I do eat pineapple yogurt! That looks like so much fun – making and eating the ice cream. Homemade tastes so good.

The cool thing is we can make half a batch and not have any waste Jeanine. Of course who has waste when it comes to ice cream! LOL I’m going to try adding the all natural Monk Fruit sweetener instead of sugar next time. It’s no calories but tastes just like sugar.

I would like to get C a Ice cream machine for Christmas as he hasn’t had homemade Ice cream and I know both David and Charlie would enjoying making it.

    I love ice cream. 🙂

  7. Tucker Luke says:

I read and enjoyed. Now going to go shop for an ice cream maker.

  8. I remember making ice cream the old-fashioned way with the hand-cranked machine. Dad did the cranking and one of the kids sat on a gunnysack on top (to keep the ice from melting too fast and weigh down the machine while they cranked).
This sounds like a lot less work. Yum!
