More than a Challenge!

WOW we are more than halfway through the January Ultimate Blog Challenge! For me this has been more than a challenge. I wouldn’t miss this UBC for anything since it’s my 25th consecutive one and I’ve completed each one. But we were traveling and in Indiana for a week so I had to plan my strategy which was a challenge there too. I had to figure out how I could make sure I could post a blog every day while wondering whether I would have internet service. I also wanted to make sure I could visit the other blogs written each day. I was able to at least visit and comment on the first two above me when I posted and when I got to the hotel I went back and visited the other ones. I’m happy to say I completed each day while traveling and now I’m back home pluggling away at the keys.

The last few months of blogging last year were also more than a challenge! I kept up with writing but it was hard to say the least. With life getting in the way I keep pounding at the keys writing my blogs and visiting and commenting on others but didn’t seem to find enough time to keep up with all the comments I was receiving. They slowly got to almost 400 and there was no way I could control them. Now I love all the comments my readers leave and I always reply to every single one but it wasn’t working fast enough for me. So the beginning of December I made a personal challenge and what a challenge it was! I set a goal to read and respond to all 400 plus comments since it grew from the time I had last checked. My goal was to get through 20 comments a day and I would have them completed by the end of December so I’d have a fresh start by the January Ultimate Blog Challenge! This is the blog I posted when I started my challenge…http://themarthareview.com/your-mission-should-you-choose-to-accept-it/

See I seem to live for a challenge but when I get ready to do something, I procrastinate at times. If I turn it into a challenge I know I have to get going because I must make my goal. So I set a certain time every evening to work on my 20 comments per day. Well once I had a plan in place I realized I could get through more than 20 in an evening so I would continue on and watch the numbers dwindle down. What I didn’t realize was I was whizzing through them because evenings are my time and I don’t have a schedule to follow. To my surprise I completed reading and commenting on ALL FOUR HUNDRED comments in SEVEN days! This is the blog I posted about how it all ended… http://themarthareview.com/updating-my-mission/

What has this taught me? It proved that I can do anything I set my mind to! We are 18 days into the January challenge and I have kept up on replying to all my comments! WOO HOO that’s a big plus for me! Do you procrastinate and then try to figure out a solution? Maybe turning it into a challenge will work for you too.

Again Lia and I want to thank all our readers for the comments, questions, likes, and shares and we appreciate you all! My challenge for the rest of the January UBC is to stay on top of the comments so this will never happen again! ONLY 13 more blogs until I can say I’ve completed 25 Ultimate Blog Challenges in a row!! I’m also having fun playing with CANVA and I updated our thank you photo!!

Ending to this story

The other day I wrote a blog about EYE APPEALING FEATURE PHOTOS and I thought my today’s feature photo fit perfect with my title “More than a Challenge” because I did just like Lia climbing the rope wall saying, “I can do this” while making that her challenge!

I started my blog on Christmas Day 2014 mainly to review products I received. Since then it has evolved into many other categories of lifestyles, family, money saving ideas, low cost, delicious and healthy meals plus other surprise posts. My granddaughter has her own category, Alex's Articles and the latest addition to my blog is my great granddaughter now has her category, Lia's Likings The Baby Blogger! Lia started blogger at 8 months old and she now has a Friday Story Time blog you won't want to miss! I welcome you to join the conversation, ask a question, give a suggestion or leave a comment on any blog post. I hope you enjoy Lia's Likings, she has some great posts that will make you smile!

Congratulations! I am amazed that you got them finished so quickly! I will use you as my inspiration to get my comments answered as well!

  2. I think I can, I think I can…
    I knew I could, I knew I could.

(My favorite book as a tot- The little engine that could.)

Yes, we’ve made it far into this challenge! I’ve very much enjoyed it!

I was impressed at your dedication to commenting and getting that done!

We can do a lot by making small goals and sticking with them!

Thanks Laurie. That’s why I started my goal at 20 per day, something doable without high pressure. But like everything, once I set me mind to something, there’s no stopping me! I love setting goals and challenges.

Great going, Martha. It takes planning content and time to get through such a challenge, but I’ve got it down pat, so I’m usually on top of it. I’m not saying it’s not a challenge, trust me, it bloody is. I have my VIP coaching clients, writing emails, blog posts, of course ( I stay 2-days ahead and schedule them), research… and I’m in the middle of writing a fantasy book. Then there’s life, lol

    • Martha says:

WOW and I thought I was busy Cherry-Ann! This is the first time I’ve really been totally out in left field but for the last few months of last year things were very hectic. But I completed my challenge and hopefully won’t be there again!

  5. Martha, you are awesome! You made a positive out of the 400-comment-lag by creating a challenge within a challenge. I am amazed and thrilled for you that you whizzed through them in 7 days! Don’t you feel lighter now? Congratulations!

    • Martha says:

Thank you Kebba! I’m a positive person and know I just had to come up with a plan and a challenge was it! Yes I do feel lighter and I’m keeping up with them now!

You inspire me everyday Martha!! And I keep ensuring I catch up when I read your posts..

  7. Hanna says:

Wow that’s what you call the commitment well don’t you!

  8. It can become so daunting when one is behind and looking at all that must be done to “catch up”. A challenge is a great way to stay motivated and it sounds as if your efforts paid off. Also I think you are setting a great example for Lia as she participates in responding too if I am correct?

    • Martha says:

Yes daunting is a good word for that Shephers Run Farm! I read the comments to Lia and she gives me her reply, I want to keep her up on everything!

  9. Amanda Gene says:

I am so proud of you. Like my grandpa used to say “The more you do it the better you will get at it.” The more you write and blog the better you become at it.
