Money Saving Tips
It’s been a long time since I’ve gone on a CVS shopping spree! We needed dish soap and laundry detergent so it was time to don my mask and make a trip to the drug store. I have some money saving tips for you!
First I make my list and only get what’s needed. Then I check the weekly ad to see what brand of the items I need are on sale. I make sure I click any online coupons from my CVS app and head in to shop.
I needed dish soap and they had 19.4 oz bottle of Dawn on sale.. buy one get one 50% off. The regular price is $4.39 so two bottles would cost $6.49. BUT WAIT!!!! Right next to the Dawn was a 20 oz bottle of Palmolive on sale for $1.99! So two bottles would be $3.98. I could get three bottles for less than it would have cost for two Dawn. I also picked up a small 10 oz bottle of Palmolive because it was on sale for 99 cents plus I had a 25 cent off coupon. So for 74 cents, it was worth it.
I also needed laundry detergent, Arm and Hammer was buy 1 get 2 free! One jug cost $7.29 but after the two free, it brought the cost to $2.43 per 43.75 oz bottle. BUT WAIT AGAIN!! I had 3 coupons on my CVS app for Arm and Hammer saving an additional $4.50.
Everything else I purchased were items we needed, bottled water, cough drops, and a bag of candy orange slices. Yes they were on sale too.
So here is my tally when I got to the check out, these amounts are before tax. The total for all my items before sale price and coupons would have been $54.48. After deducting the sale price saving of $23.38 it brought the price to $25.05. But it didn’t stop there. I had $25.05 CVS coupons bringing my total amount due $6.15. BUT AGAIN WAIT!! I had a CVS gift card and paid the $6.15 with that so I didn’t pay anything for $54.48 worth of items I needed!
My money saving tips for you today are when plan your shopping trip I suggest to write a list, check for sales and then check for coupons. If you’re shopping at a store where they have an app be sure to check any coupons that may be available there too. I love saving money and when I can walk out with over $50.00 worth of items without paying anything, that’s a good day!
I love arm and hammer laundry soap. It’s good for me because I have sensitive skin.
Yes they have a sensitive skin one also that we used when Lia was younger. I love the fresh smell of it Amanda!
Good job on the savings, and nice pics!
Thanks Alexandra, been a long time since I’ve been shopping this way.
Brilliant but never stand behind her at cash register
LOL Rich. I try to have all my coupons in order before I get there.
