Money Gifts

It seems to get harder and harder to pick out gifts for others, yes there are always gift cards and money but how can you make money gifts a bit more creative than just putting cash in an envelope? This has been a fun challenge to come up with different ways to surprise the recipient when giving money as a gift.

First I want to show you some past money gift ideas I’ve made. It’s fun, creative and I love to see the expression on the receiver when they open them!

I came up with an idea to use decorative cookie boxes to turn into money boxes. It’s so much fun watching the person pull out money from the box! Check out the videos in my money gift ideas blog. http://themarthareview.com/be-creative-with-money-gifts/

My readers know I save just about everything including empty boxes! I never know when I can use them for something special and a Valentine’s Day candy box was perfect to turn into a birthday money gift box. Of course I first had to eat the candy! LOL Check out this cool candy box turned money box! http://themarthareview.com/money-box-instructions/

This year I went a different route, I made a money tree for a Christmas gift! I started with a small amethyst tree, her favorite gem. Then I rolled up different denominations of bills and tied them with ribbon and hung them on the “branches” of the tree. The fun part is watching the gift being opened and figuring out how much money is on the tree or in the boxes.

Gift cards are also a popular gift. This is a blog I posted with instructions on how to wrap them to be a bit more exciting to open!

So if you are looking for ideas for money gifts, be creative and think outside the box!

  1. I would end up ripping those dollar bills trying to separate them!

Another thing about giving money Deminique, kids can pick out what the want and if they go shopping after Christmas can end up getting something on sale and get twice as much! LOL

Thanks for sharing this wonderful post! I am one of those who needed it!
I have a daughter and she is 18.
Since she was 16/17 I struggled thinking about presents to gift her and I ended up gifting some beauty accessories and gift cards, but really the plain envelope is boring.

Yes the plain envelope is what I wanted to change Elisabetta. You can even purchase a small item and hide money inside the box! I’m working on other ideas!

Love the ideas! Very cool 🙂
Interestingly, I made a “money tree” for a friend of Colin’s just a few months ago:

I think everyone likes money Tamara! LOL I made my granddaughter a money tree when she was about 10 years old (she’s 25 now) out of a actual tree branch!

  5. Wow, those are great ideas. You are so creative, Martha! I don’t really give money gifts, although I do sometimes give gift cards. And I have tried to creative about them, too.

    • Martha says:

It gets to the point where we have no idea as to what to get, especially the older grandchildren who seem to have everything! LOL You could do the same with giftcards Jeanine!

  6. Elisa says:

My sister-in-law put money in a maze and made my kids solve the puzzle to unlock the box and get the cash. It was fun and a little cruel, but creative! LOL.
