Mini M&M’s
Mini M&M’s are for children like dog biscuits are for puppies. You can bribe your little ones, reward them or just let them have a few mini M&M’s for a snack.
Lia loves them and we have a filled tube on hand plus an empty tube. When it’s time to give her a reward we put 4 or 5 little M&M’s in the empty tube. When she eats them she’s says, “all gone” and we tell her we’ll get more when we go shopping. (I wonder how long before she realizes there are still more in the other tube) LOL
But the other day I figured something out! Me being the frugal (or cheap) one realized a tube of mini M&M’s was quite pricey at $1.48 at Walmart. There is 1.77 oz. in a tube that comes out to about 84 cents an ounce.
So I started checking other prices on other mini M&M’s. I can get a Share-a-bag at Walmart for $4.86 for 18 oz. That’s only 27 cents an ounce! Quite a savings from the tubes.
But I looked in the baking aisle at Walmart and found mini M&M baking bits for $2.37 for a 10 oz. bag. That’s only 23 cents an ounce!
If I purchase five tubes of M&M’s it would be 8.85 oz. and they would cost $7.40 compared to a 10 oz. bag for $2.37! That’s quite a savings.
But the best deal is when I find baking M&M’s on sale like on after Christmas sales. Last year I stocked up on the after Christmas sale and got 11 oz. red and green baking Mini M&M’s for 50 cents a bag! I freeze them and can take a bag out whenever I need one for baking or bribing! LOL
It’s hard to resist getting the Mini M&M’s out when Lia looks at us with her big brown eyes and her adorable smile saying, “I have M&M’s now?”
Wow, I will remember to look at the baking aisle at Walmart and for mini M&M baking bits if ever I need to stock up, especially this coming Halloween! 😀
I always look for the sales whenever I shop Pam. I gravitate to sales!
She is so cute. I am glad mini M&Ms work for little ones! I always found that there was not enough substance to them for me when I would try to eat them LOL
The are perfect for little ones and little hands. On the other hand, I need the large peanut M&M’s Dominique!
Awww! That would be hard to resist!! And what a great deal.
It’s be working good as a bribe lately Jeanine. LOL She doesn’t like to buckle up in her car seat or sometimes went sit still to comb her hair so we bribe her with M&M’s.
So cute! What a difference in price, yet the same item… Great tip Thanks Martha! I will pass it on.
I’m always searching to save money Cindy!
So, if we choose to devour minis, we don’t gain weight? If not- I’ll stick with the regular ones 🙂
That’s right Roy, they are so tiny the calories slide right out! LOL I too prefer the large peanut ones but the minis are perfect for mini people.
This post brings back memories of my own childhood. I remember when these mini candies first came out.
I’m so happy when I hear my posts bring back memories Amanda. I like to use the mini M&M’s in cookies too!
