Market Place Finds

Yesterday I wrote about my Market Place finds with the concrete for my garden edging. My neighbor got my hooked on this site and I’ve found some great things to help in my reorganizing the garage.

A few weeks ago someone had base kitchen cabinets so my neighbor and I went and checked them out. I was able to get two single door units that fit in my Equinox and then I eyed a narrow one about 8″ wide, probably a filler cabinet by the dishwasher. Judy asked if we had room and not knowing what I would use it for I said yes!

The were dirty inside but I sprayed them with Lysol and hosed them down. Not new but not bad for the garage. I put the two large cabinets next to each other but now had to come up with something for the top. I didn’t have any plywood but I did have some laminate floor panels from when we put the living room floor down in 1998! Yes, you read that right, I told you I save everything. LOL Well the slats locked together on the cabinets to make a top! They are about 16″ longer than the cabinets and someday I may trim them but for now it works. I now have a place for all of Lia’s craft beads in one cabinet and cleaning supplies in the other. The drawers are perfect for extra extension leads and my garden cart supplies.

The narrow cabinet works perfect for my car cleaning brushes and I slid a narrow waste basket in it in case the car cleaning brush is wet. I don’t need a top on that since the handles are long.

Two days later there was another ad for a garage cabinet so of course I had to check that out. The owner apologized because the door had dried paint on it but I can repaint it on a day I have nothing to do. The cabinet was super heavy but I mentioned to push it in the back of my car. This one was actually cleaner than the ones from a kitchen and it has a heavy top so I can store totes on top. It first I didn’t know what I was going to store on the shelves but it didn’t take long to store my pressure cooker and meatball pan since I don’t use them everyday and it gave me more space in the kitchen cupboards.

Now for the drawer, what can go there? I started putting my extra surge protectors and scissors and tape but was trying to come up with a way to keep them neat in the drawer. This is were the plastic containers from Costco came in handy. The large one is from the croissants and the narrow one is from muffins! I always wondered why I was neatly saving these on a shelf in the garage! They fit perfect and nothing gets jumbled up when I open and close the drawer.

I now have one side of the garage lined with Market Place cabinets and they didn’t cost anything. I’m happy to be getting the garage a bit more organized day by day.

My next Market Place find cost my $10.00 for two barstools. I’ve been searching for just a basic one for a small space at the end of the kitchen counter and when I saw these I know I could make them work. They needed a coat of paint and new fabric for the seats. I just happened to have some black faux leather and white paint on hand and I think the combination is perfect compliment for my countertops and also the gray fabric on my dining area chairs.

While I was at it, I did a bit of reorganizing the countertops again. I know I just did them in January and I said that was probably the last time I would rearrange them, but things happen. The area with the toaster oven looked too cramped so I moved that over by the stove and moved to candy jars on the counter. Then in the corner where I had stacked bowls, I put a lazy susan cup holder I got while visiting my daughter in Virginia. So once again I’m saying I like this layout, will it be my last, probably not. LOL

So these are my Market Place finds along with some Canna lilies along the back fence. You never know what people are looking to get rid of and I have my radar on now watching for what’s next.
