Making Progress

Making Progress

Today was the day to put my boots on and begin cleaning!  No, I didn’t really need boots because I was cleaning our upstairs “everything room”.  I do product reviews and when I complete reviewing something, I have been putting them upstairs.  Then I ended up putting the items in boxes and before I knew it, the room was over full!

It’s not like “out of sight, out of mind”, it’s right at the top of the stairs so I see it every time I go up there! But today, was the day and I completed it in about 2 1/2 hours which included about 1/2 hour of slacking while looking through old pictures and the kids toys.  I’m the type that has to complete a project when I start it. If I start something then take a break, the break lasts for weeks or months until I can get back to what I started to do. So it’s all or nothing, here I go!!

Part way through my project, I was finally able to realize we had a floor and I could almost see the sofa! LOL  I organized things from electronics, kitchen items, toys, pet products, etc. in separate boxes so I knew what I had.  The next step was to decide what was going to be donated and what was going to be saved for gifts.  I neatly stored those in a closet while the truck is full of the other things.   Plus I manged to have a trash bag full of packing stuff, broken boxes and things that I had no idea what they were for.

Once I completed my project, I was glad I finally got this room back to a room.   So if you’re like me and procrastinate about re-organizing, take a deep breath, look situation over and tackle it!   When I do get a room finished, it makes me want to do another.  The next project will be to re-organize the master bedroom closet. That will be a piece of cake compared to what I just accomplished!  But that will have to wait, since I’m going to start cooking a chicken dinner!

I’m impressed! I just unpacked two more boxes and thought I’d done well. At least I still don’t have anything in my closets yet.

My philosophy is that if I leave it for long enough someone else will tidy it up. Doesn’t always work!

    • Martha says:

Well if I did that, hubby would bring in the back hoe and toss everything Bill! I procrastinate but once I start, I’m on a roll. Thanks for stoppping by!

Whoa, I don’t think that room has been that neat in like a decade! ? Let’s see how long it stays that way, lol.

    • Martha says:

A decade, 10 years, ya that’s about right! LOL It will stay like this because once I clean up, I don’t let it get messed up. Thanks for the encouraging words Alexandra! 🙂

Now that was a big job! It does pay off in the end!!

    • Martha says:

It was Stacy but once I started it wasn’t too bad. I have to finish a project when I start or it never gets done! My next project is re-organizing the master bedroom closet. That won’t be quite as much of a challenge…….. I don’t think! Good luck on your play room purging. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Sandy KS says:

Glad you was able to pull that off. I need to do that come spring time to my shed.

    • Martha says:

Oh gosh, did you have to mention shed? LOL That will be a full weekend project for us! But need to wait for warmer weather!! Thanks for stopping by Sandy.

  7. I love that room and how comfortable it looks with throws and pillows for everyone!

    • Martha says:

Thanks Becky, I’m glad to have the room back in order. Most of the pillows where made by our grandchildren at one time or another. Hoping now that it’s organized, I can keep it that way! Thanks for visiting!
