Long Awaited Surgery Finally Scheduled
Long Awaited Surgery Is Finally Scheduled
After the surgeon’s consult in July, it took a few weeks to schedule the MRI, then another few weeks to get the results. The next step was a consultation with the neuro surgeon which was the end of August. Rich and I were at our grandson’s wedding in Vermont so right after the Sunday evening wedding, we scooted over to Ohio to be with Alex for the Monday afternoon consult. What we heard was what the lung surgeon suspected and what we didn’t want to hear. The 4″ diameter tumor had infiltrated into Alexandra’s spine from T-1 to T-5 and was compressing her spinal cord. This surgeon explained everything in a way that we could understand and then showed the MRI and pointed out how the tumor get into the spinal column through the little holes where the nerves come out of the spine.
The next step was for the surgeons to consult with each other to plan the surgery strategy and get everyone coordinated at the same time. It seems like forever since Alex was first diagnosed with this tumor back in May but her surgery is finally scheduled for November 2nd. Rich and I will be going up to be with Alexandra through the surgery and recovery.
There are not many words that can be spoken at a time like this in anyone`s life. God is with you.
You are so right Andria, but we know God is watching over and will guide the hands of her surgeons. Thanks for stopping by.
I will be praying for Alex. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers 💚
Thanks Stacy, Alex can use all she can get. I’ll keep my “weathered” friends updated. <3
What a beautiful quilt! I hope that the surgery is a success. Hugs and prayers!!!
Thank you Alice, the back of the quilt is loaded with prayers and messages for Alex. Thanks for visiting and also the prayers!
Praying all goes well.
Thank you Betty, prayers work! I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for visiting!
I pray for your family & Alex. I myself had a back fusion surgery in 2012, it is a rough recovery, but it is so worth it in the end. I pray her surgery goes as well as mine did, and that she is feeling better in no time! Hugs!
Thanks Jennifer, we are so scared of how the tumor has infiltrated into her spine. But so many prayers and prayer chains are being sent to her and I know God will always be with her and us.
