Lia’s Sweet Chicken
Today is Day 9 of the Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge and the topic is something that highlights uniqueness. I planned on writing about a different unique topic but Monday night Lia made a snack all by herself, Lia’s Sweet Chicken. I had no idea what she was planning so I didn’t get photos at the beginning.
This is how her recipe started. It was about 9PM and Lia pushed her chair over to the microwave to make a late night snack of chicken. I asked her how many chicken fries she wanted to make and she told me three. So I helped her get the three chicken fries on the plate and lifted her up to reach the microwave. As I started to push the buttons, Lia says, “I got it, I got it.” I told her to push the one minute button and when it got to 30 to turn it off. I flipped the chicken and she pushed the button to turn the microwave back on. She stood way back as I took the plate out of the microwave saying, “Careful ma, it’s hot.”
After it cooled I went to get a paper plate and she organized all the pieces in the shape of a star around the edge of the plate. I wish I snapped a picture before she started moving the chicken around, it was so perfectly set up. She was still standing on her chair snacking on a few pieces of chicken while I was at the sink.
I looked over and she was putting the chicken in the frying pan sitting on the stove top. Next she moved her chair to the cupboard beside the stove and opened the door, looking all around. I asked her what she was looking for and she told me sprinkles. Sprinkles on chicken?? Finally she grabbed the half used bottle of sugar cookie sprinkle sugar.
She started sprinkling the chicken with the sugar cookie sugar covering each piece. She emptied the entire contents of the bottle shaking it over and over to make sure she got it all!
She covered the pan and told mommy and me it would take 20 minutes as she tapped on the lid with her little fingers. (The burner was not on)
Finally 20 minutes was up, she lifted the lid and looked at the chicken. She grabbed the lid again, put it back on the frying pan and moved the pan to the other burner, once again telling us it’s hot. Her 20 minutes was actually about 2 minutes. LOL
This video is adorable showing on Lia made her Sweet Chicken!
Letting it sit for a bit she moved it back to the other side of the stove top, had her little orange plate ready and it was time to eat her snack. Her mommy came up with the name of Lia’s Holiday Time Sugar Cookie Chicken! I would say this is as unique as it gets!
Lia didn’t have a nap at all Monday and I think the sugar from her chicken was just what she needed to give her a little lift to walk up stairs and fall right to sleep! LOL
FYI – THE MICROWAVE WAS THE ONLY OVEN USED TO HEAT UP THE CHICKEN, THE STOVE WAS NEVER ON WHILE LIA WAS PREPARING HER GOURMET SNACK. SHE ONLY PRETENDING WHEN SHE SAID THE PAN WAS HOT AND AN ADULT WAS WITH HER THE ENTIRE TIME.
LOL! Lia’s Holiday Sugar Cookie Chicken – that is so cute. And those videos were adorable!! But listen, where did you get the Sugar Cookie sugar? I’m wondering what would be like in my tea. And if it’s any cheaper than the Torani shortbread syrup I was planning to get and try.
LOL Lia had a great time making her first snack start to finish Jeanine! We get the sugar at Big Lots for $1.25 a bottle. BUT after Christmas it usually goes on sale for half price! It’s delicious sprinkled on toast also.
Sugared chicken. How nutritious…was it at least delicious?
Lia has a very creative imagine Roy, we never know what she will come up with next. LOL I didn’t try it but she loved it.
Martha, how fantastic! I think you have a young chef on your hands. Who knows what entrepreneur she will turn out to be? I had the same question as Jeanine, so thanks for the tip about getting the sugar at Big Lots! Now what are chicken fries? This snack is definitely unique!
Lia has such a unique imagination Kebba, Maybe that can be my blog for the next CCBC Unique topic. Chicken fries are similar to nuggets but they are long skinny pieces like french fries!
Lia will have a cookbook out by next year.
LOL I’m saving all her recipes and creations Brenda!
Super entertaining. And Lia was having such a good time! Lia’s sugar cookie chicken. She has a very healthy imagination!
Chicken and sugar, that’s a good combination isn’t it Alice? LOL She has such a vivid imagination!

I don’t know where Lia comes up with her ideas but I love that she is so creative Vidya!
That looked so good. Lia, you are learning how to cook so well.
Lia came up with this idea all by herself Amanda. It certainly was a different combination!
