Lia’s Sunshine Bakery has Gone to the Dogs
I’m off topic today for my weekly blogs of organizing but I’m so excited to share the news that Lia’s Sunshine Bakery has gone to the dogs! Home made doggy biscuits have been added to her bakery!
I’ve been cleaning out and organizing things for our spring community garage sale this Saturday. I didn’t realized how much stuff I had stuffed in our closet and garage plus neighbors that don’t want to bother having a sale have dropped off items here for us to sell since the proceeds will go to Alzheimer’s! LOL But along with the garage sale Lia will be having a bake sale also to benefit Alzheimer’s. We can’t bake until Friday so we will have a marathon baking day. As I was getting the cookie recipes ready to make sure we had all the ingredients needed I came across a doggy biscuit recipe. Since Lia was at school I decided to give it a try and see if they would be good to add to her bake sale.
The recipe called for whole wheat flour, peanut butter, honey, an egg and cup of water. How easy is that and I had all the ingredients on hand. After I mixed all the ingredients together, I rolled the dough in a ball then flattened it with a rolling pin to about 1/2″ thick.
The recipe made 80 little doggy bone biscuits and I imprinted “LSB” on some with a toothpick. I’ll have to see if a stamp can be mind for her cookies and bones for an added touch to Lia’s Sunshine Bakery.
After the dog biscuits cooled, Snowball was ready to be the official tester….he loved them and danced for more! Here is the link to the recipe! https://www.thecookierookie.com/pb-dog-treats/
The basket of bones are ready for Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Fundraiser on Saturday! I print out labels for Lia’s cookie boxes and I even made little ones for the bone bags! These were so fun to make, now I’m going to look for another flavored biscuit to make for doggy variety. Okay back to organizing the garage sale!
I saw them on Facebood yesterdy and thought they were just adorable. Now that I read about the ingredients, I’m like “wait a minute, this isn’t exclusively a dog treat – *I* like Peanut Butter Cookies!”
Very smart to offer them at a sale. Many people don’t want to purchase “human” cookies because they’re not supposed to eat sugary treats, but hey, if it’s for the furbaby!
Good luck, Lia and Martha, keep up the wonderful work!
The first thing I did when they cooled was try on myself Tamara! It’s just peanut butter, honey, wheat flour, egg and water….people ingredients! I found another recipe using sweet potatoes so if we have time those will be included in the bake sale too! Thanks for visiting.
This is so fun! My mom occasionally makes treats for their dog and he loves them, I’m sure these will be a big hit at your garage sale this weekend.
I’ve never been excited about making rolled cookies but once I did these I have second thoughts. They were so easy and such a delicious recipe Kimberly! I’m sure we will be making these often for Snowball.
That is awesome!!! Good for Lia!
I’d love the recipe. Have a great day, & send good wishes to Lia!
Lia has been talking about wanting to make doggy treats for awhile so it was time! The recipe is so easy, I’ll edit the blog and add the recipe Jean!
It’s amazing how you and Lia manage to do so much.Thank you for being a Sunshine blog.
Actually it’s a big more challenging now that Lia is in school but she still enjoys baking so much Amrita.
OH! With the title, I thought the dogs had gotten into her baked goodies. LOL
I am glad the reality was not that sad and was a happy occasion. Good luck with the bake sale!
OMG I never gave that a thought Dominique! But maybe the title will get others to wonder the outcome! Thanks for stopping by.
They are so cute!! I love that the bakery has gone to the dogs. But boy, that looks like a lot of work went into the baking o& inscribing of those doggy biscuits. I hope there is some rest time in your future.
They are so easy to make Jeanine and healthy! I even tried them and it’s like a peanut butter cookie. LOL The inscribing was an afterthought and now I want to see if I can order a little stamp like inscriber for them. Rest, what’s that? LOL
I saw them on facebook and they look yummy! Good luck with the bake sale! I love seeing you and Lia and all of your projects. Your making so many wonderful memories.
Thanks Victoria, her dog biscuits were a sell out along with all her cookies!
Such a great idea — and Snowball knew they would be a hit! 🙂 And I understand the work of a big garage sale, we just had an Estate/Garage sale last Saturday. Hope you get some rest after all this!
It was great to have a puppy taster Angie! LOL I even tried them and they were delicious!
Martha, great job creating those dog biscuits! Yes, do get a rubber stamp made with “LSB” or “DOG” on it! It will sae you a lot of time, and they are washable if you dry them with a towel right away. Go for it! I hope your bake sale is a huge success!!!!
The dog biscuits were a big hit Kebba and Lia received over %500 for Alzheimer’s!
Duke would love those, Lia.
