Lia’s Last Blog for July

This will be my last blog for July and I’ve had fun sharing my Friday Story Time by Lia with you. It’s not only near the end of the July Ultimate Blog Challenge but the Alzheimer’s Fundraiser ends on the same day!

This is the third year Lia’s Sunshine Bakery has participated in this fundraiser in memory of my great, great grandmother. I never met her, my mommy was little when she went to Heaven but Ma as told me so much about her. She even owned a cake decorating business!

I had two great bake sales this year, the first one was in the fall where I raised $500.00 even though it was a rainout for the community garage sale. This is when I made my Doggy biscuits and they were a sell out!

The spring sale was just after Pop left so we didn’t do as much baking but I sill raised over $300.00. I missed having pop coming over to make sure everything was going good and I would give him one of my Italian cookies.

This is my third year in a row to become a Solstice Champion for receiving $1600.00 or more! All that wouldn’t happen without everyone who donated to help fight and find a treatment and hopefully a cure for Alzheimer’s.

I raised $1780.00 in the 2022 campaign!

For my second year in 2023 I raised $2150.00 for a great cause!

I didn’t get to have my third bake sale this year but I’m still happy with raising $1600.00 so far for 2024. I still have a few days left and I hope to raise a bit more before the end of July. Ma says I can do it!

When one of my bake sales was over, I was so excited to see that it was a sell out I jumped on my slide and gave a big shout out to everyone who helped with my fundraising. Then I was even more excited when I saw that my FB and blogger friend Lily drew a picture of my picture! She is so talented and I hope one day I can draw and paint as great as Lily does. You can check out some of your blogs and other paintings on her blog: https://onethousandandtwo.com/

I also want to send a big thank you to everyone who has help me reach my goals in Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Alzheimer’s Fundraiser. Until October when I’ll see you in that challenge, BLOG ON!!

  1. Wow Lia (and Martha)! What an incredible journey you’ve had with your Alzheimer’s fundraising! It’s amazing to see how dedicated you are to this cause, and how much you’ve accomplished over the past three years. Becoming a Solstice Champion three times in a row is a fantastic achievement! Your bake sales sound delightful, especially those popular doggy biscuits. I bet our dogs Hayley and Dobbie would love them. 🙂 It’s touching to see how you’re honoring your great, great grandmother’s memory and carrying on her baking legacy.

Lia and I thank you Safrianna! I’m so proud of Lia for starting out at such a young age wanting to help others. Her doggy treats always make a big hit!

  2. Great job, Lia! It’s impressive to see how you’ve grown and adapted each year, even with the challenges. Your dedication to honoring your great-great-grandmother and supporting Alzheimer’s research is inspiring. How fun to have a friend draw your picture!

  3. Tamara says:

Wow, Lia, that is the largest check I have ever seen! Congratulations on your hard work paying out so well! I remember the doggie PB cookies you made.
I didn’t know your Ma’s Mom was in the decorating industry as well!
It was great to read from you every Friday 🙂

Lia says thank you Tamara! My mom had a side line of cake baking! She worked for the school distract and did baking in the evening. It would have be awesome if Lia could have met her but my mom certainly passed down the baking genes to Lia.

  4. Lia, congratulations!!! You always do such a fantastic job for the fundraiser. I’m so proud of you. And it has been my pleasure to read your stories on Friday. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
