Lia Learning to Cut Peppers
Today is Friday Story Time by Lia and do I have an exciting story today! This morning I picked peppers from our garden and everytime I pick vegetables I have to give them a taste! Look at all the peppers I picked and I started helping Mama get them ready for the freezer. Today I learned something new! I hope you enjoy my Lia Learning to Cut Peppers story!
After washing the peppers mama cut the top off and a little bit on the bottom to get the seed pod out. Mama came up with the great idea of drying the seeds so we can plant more peppers next year. I carefully pulled the little seeds off the pod and now we have to let them dry so we can plant them in little pots so we can transplant them in our garden next spring.

As I was watching mama carefully cut the peppers in sections I wanted to help her. Mama gave me a plastic knife and told me I had to be careful because it was very sharp. Very, very carefully I started cutting the peppers in pieces. I was so excited to learn how to cut with a knife but I was very careful.
After they were all cut, mama put the knife away and I know I can’t touch it until mommy or mama are with me. A knife is very dangerous and I’m learning all about safety.
The peppers are cut into pieces and it’s time to put them in a freezer bag. Now we can have fresh peppers even when we don’t have anymore in the garden!
I like to help and learn new things. I think learning to cut peppers is the one project that is very excited but I have to be very, very careful and pay close attention to how I hold the pepper to make sure my fingers are safe. I hope you enjoyed my Friday Story Time Blog today, now off to do so cooking!

Good job, Lia!
Thanks Amanda, Lia was so careful!
What a neat story. Good job, Lia! And thank goodness you and Mama were just teasing about using a sharp knife. 🙂
While it was a plastic knife from McD’s it had a serrated edge so it really cut. But it was perfect for teaching Lia about how knifes are sharp and can only be used when someone is with her. Same as Alex when she was Lia’s age and worked with us in the shop with scissors. She knew not to touch them. Gotta teach them early Jeanine.
