Let the Exercise Begin!
I finally did it, I got ready to start exercising again! I’ve been trying to get back in my routine since 2016 and this is the blog I wrote a few days again to challenge me to let the exercise begin! http://themarthareview.com/its-time-to-get-moving/ 0
The biggest hurdle was to clean out my grandson’s room he had when he was younger. It had turned into a storage room with boxes from when we closed our shop in 2018 plus Minky supplies. The cardio bike was buried but since I wrote the above blog I knew I had to post my update before the January challenge month ended. As I was cleaning, look what I found, a box of Zachary’s little cars and trucks he has had since he’s been maybe 3 years old! That’s my problem when I start a major cleaning project, I come across a memory from long ago and get off track. But I stuck with it, the room is organized the cardio bike is easily accessible and now here’s my exercise plan…….
I got the bike ready, my start date will be February 1st and I will start at 10 minutes every other day. (My crickty old back won’t take much more) I will gradually increase the time until I get to twenty or thirty minutes a day. On the alternating days I will work on the weight machine or bands.
The cardio bike I have isn’t anything fancy but it get’s the job done. It actually works the upper and lower body and I can adjust the tension as I up my speed.
I also recently got a under the desk pedal exerciser that I can use daily while working on my blog or other computer work. My goal isn’t to lose weight, it’s to keep fit as I enter my 71st year in March.
The one reason I’m not big on exercising is I get bored just pedaling away but I know it has to be done! Alice from the UBC suggested I listen to my favorite radio station and wouldn’t you know I just received an AM/FM radio headset to review so I’m all set on that! By listening to my Country music I can pass the pedaling time away while keeping the beat!
When I begin a challenge it’s not for any reason other than my own personal goal. That’s how it is with the Ultimate Blog Challenge also, I could easily say I’m going to skip a day but in my mind I know I can’t! The challenge, whatever it is, has a hold on me and I’m not about to let myself down!
So I have my cardio bike and radio headset ready and now I have two full months before the April Ultimate Blog Challenge starts. Stay tuned for my update in April to let you know I have stuck with my exercise challenge. My healthy eating plan is doing great and I want to say the same about my exercising plan! Wish me luck and let the exercise begin!
Today’s suggested blog topic is DETERMINATION and I am determined to stick to my exercise challenge and report back in the April Ultimate Blog Challenge!
I have a more elaborate under the desk cycler. One that also lets me stand on it (improving my balance, too) and exercise. I use that version while mellowing out in the evening watching tv. (Oh, yeah- I swim every morning and bike outside a few days a week.)
Cool that sounds high tech Roy. Not sure how often I’ll use the desk one but I’m working on my plan. Swimming will start in a few months when our outside pool opens.
You have inspired me to start my own exercise challenge. I was hoping I could find a friend to exercise with me, but it is difficult to get others to commit to a daily or even weekly routine. I do need to lose weight, and it’s not falling off of me when I am sitting on the couch watching Big Bang Theory reruns. I hope I have a success story to share in April too.
Elisa, we can keep updates on our exercising between now and the April challenge! I’d love to hear how your doing!
wooohooo, way to go Martha!!!
Great determination and great post.
Thanks Nancy, it’s only taken 4 years to get back at it!
Well done Martha! I say…why wait until Saturday? You can start today…or maybe tomorrow if it’s late at night where you live. Don’t let anything derail your efforts to form the habit.
Actually I’ve been stretching and conditioning the past week Karen. I figured my plan will be to “officially” start February 1st since I’ll be keeping track on my calendar. I’m determined to make this work.
This sounds like a great plan. who is your accountability partner?
Thanks Doug, I actually have 3 partners….me, myself and I. Once I come up with a challenge, I am determined to stick with it. It’s a personal thing, like the blog challenge that tells me I can’t quit.
Yayy!I have an undwr desk stepper too and my trusty old treadmill for maintaining exercise sanity.Love this.Do share on twitter with me ,when you post .
I’m ready to pedal Dr. Amrita! I’ll be sure to find you between now and the April challenge. I definitely need to keep reading your blogs!
and now you continue to inspire me.. i have gotten my walking going as far as plans for health this year, but not the dancing or yoga..
No dancing or yoga here either Vidya! I’m starting slow but determined to stick with it!
You got this! I know you can do it.
Thanks Amanda! I’ve got my calendar and marking off the days.
