It’s Leap Year!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD
My dad was a Leap Year baby and when I was growing up we had so much fun when his birthday came around ever four years. Dad was born in 1916 and he would have been 25 years old today in leap years. I love this picture of dad, it was one of his school pictures.
Dad married my beautiful mom before he was 7 years old and I was born when he was 8. In 1960, my dad was 11 years old, the same age that I was! How many can say their dad is the same age as they are?
I married my sweetie in 1967 at 18 years old, my dad was almost 13 years old. When our first grandson was born, my dad become a great grandfather before he was 18 years old.
In 1996 was dad 20 or 80? We celebrated dad’s birthday with a cake that said “20 Going On 80”. It was always fun having his party and seeing his children and grandchildren older than he was!
This is a picture taken in 1998 with two of his great granddaughters, the one of the right was born in 1989 and the one I’m holding was born in 1996. I had so many fun times with my dad, from working in the yard and garden, fishing or just being together. Dad would have been 100 years old today and I have so many great memories that I hold on to and know he is still with me in my heart. Dad is celebrating his birthday with my mom in heaven today and when I look up at the sky tonight and see all the stars, I know they are the candles on his cake and he is having such a special 100th birthday.
Happy Birthday dad, I love and miss you. “All the memories of the past, forever in my heart will last.”
