It’s All Gonna Be Alright

Today is Spiritual Sunday and yesterday I went to a Celebration of Life for my neighbor. It was so beautiful and some of the messages from the Pastor could have been said about Rich. The one thing he mentioned was that when a loved one leaves us, they are not leaving us behind, they are just going to their life with Jesus before us and when it’s time we will met again. I pray that everyone who has lost a loved one can find a bit of peace knowing we will see them again.

It’s been 6 months and 13 days since God called Rich home and some days I can handle it, other days I can’t. People ask how I am and I reply with, “I’m okay” even if I’m not. But then I heard a song from a singer I never heard of, this is what Jelly Roll’s song says, “I’m not okay but it’s all gonna be alright.” That’s me and I know in time it’s all gonna be alright because Rich is still with me in my heart and always will be until we met again.

I love and miss you so much Rich, save me a seat.

❤❤❤

“The last shirt you wore is hanging on the chair.

I just don’t have the heart to move it any where.

The smell on your pillow makes me feel like you are near.

I hug it every night just like you are here.

Your Dodger hat that you once wore,

Sits on your shelf to be worn no more.

It’s the little things that I still see,

That holds the memories of you and me.”

Forever in my heart.

    Such powerful lyrics.
My heart is breaking for you, Martha – I wish there was something I could do to make you feel OK.
My condolences to your neighbor’s family.

Thanks Tamara, our love was so deep for 59 years and there is no way I can ever forget or move on like some people say. I know it will be easier at times with Rich sending me signs and going by what the pastor said, he just went home before me and we will see each other again. Hug and kiss your husband morning and evening because as the saying goes, we are not promised tomorrow. Hugs and love to you Tamara.

  2. I miss Rich too – because it feels like he is still supposed to be with you!! I’m so sorry he’s gone. But yes, that is a comforting thought. I want to see my mother again. That’s a beautiful Jelly Roll song! It’s perfect for you. He’s got another one I really like: Need a Favor. I love your poem, Martha.

  3. What a beautiful post, Martha. I am so moved by your love for Rich and how much joy you received from your neighbor’s celebration of life. Grief is so unique to each experience. May his memory continue to be a blessing to you. So much Love.

Thank you for your message Julie. Like the song says, I know I’m gonna be alright but I will always be missing a part of me. 59 years is a long time to just let go. Rich and his memories will be with me until we meet again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I send you hugs.
And Jelly Roll is wonderful. I first heard of him when I saw him coaching the contestants on American Idol. He was the most loving and kindest of coaches. He’s a good singer, too. He really sings from the heart. What a beautiful song that is.
It’s okay not to be okay.

    • Martha says:

Thank Alice, the first time I heard this song it was like Jelly Roll was signing it to me. I’ve sinced listened to other songs from Jelly Roll and they all seem to have a message in them.

I can only imagine what you are going thru each day. You seem to have wonderful support with neighbors, friends and family. That is a true blessing!!

    • Martha says:

Trying my best Angie and don’t know how I would get through some days with my family, my neighbor family and friends. I have so many that look after me and supreme with dinners out of the blue. Keeping busy is what I have to do.
