Independence Day Happy 4th of July
The United States celebrates Independence Day on July 4th because that’s the day back in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was adopted. The United States was free from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the United States of America.
Some people fly the flag only on special holidays, but our American flag (made in America) flies everyday!
Last Sunday I went to a choir performance at a local church, One Nation Under God with my neighbors, it was so beautiful! This is the 22nd 4th of July Cantata by the North Myrtle Beach All City Choir and Orchestra. The members are from a variety of the churches in our county and include men, women and even children.
The processional of flags was so spectacular as the young students came from the back of the church each carrying a flag. When everyone was lined up, the student with the huge flag in the center came running up from the back, it was such an awesome site.
Favorite Patriotic Songs
Two of my favorite patriotic songs are sung by Lee Greenwood. The first is God Bless America and the other is God Bless the U.S.A.

Today is a day for many to celebrate with family reunions, picnics and barbeques, parades and of course ending the day with fireworks. But many communities still celebrate the history and traditions of the United States.
What ever way you celebrate the 4th of July, fly the American flag proudly, enjoy your time with family and friends but be safe!
I enjoyed reading this blog post, looking at the pictures, and watching the videos. I appreciate you sharing them. Happy Fourth of July to you and your family, Martha.
Thanks Danwil and Happy 4th to you too.
Great Pictures! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Linda!
I always get goosebumps when I hear Lee Greenwood’s “God bless the USA” – I first came across it on 9/11 when it was played countless times .
Have a safe trip and enjoy the festivities. I want to hear all about your Schoggi Bananen experiment!
I get the same goosebumpbs Tamara! I’m going to try the Schoggi Bananen recipe when we get back home!
Happy Fourth of July! Please enjoy your time with your family and take care of yourself!
Thanks Dominique, I was so happy to see Zac again!
Happy 4th of July American Independence Day .In India we celebrate our Independence day on 15th August .Apparently we had the same colonizers!
How interesting Amrita, I’ll have to remember that come August!
Martha, what a beautiful post. And I love those songs! We are so blessed with all this freedom, and I am so grateful! Thanks for a great post.
You and me both Kebba, so many take freedom for granted and don’t realize people have died so the others could be free. Have a wonderful week.
Happy Fourth of July. Matt and I stayed at home and had fish, sweet potatoes and fries. Yum. We heard a lot of fireworks going off . I stayed up most of the night writing. Poor Grandpa, down in Florida, didn’t get much sleep either. Duke hates fireworks. I hope we both get some much needed sleep in the coming days.
Your dinner sounds delicious Amanda, I love fish and sweet potatoes! Snowball doesn’t like fireworks either, I read where they sell “thunder coats” for dogs that help with fireworks also. I may look into that.
I love both of those songs as well. Here we visit the VA Cemetary and leave flags if your part of the VA. Then its off to watch Fireworks with our neighbors who sit in the front of our Complex. Kids and dogs play. I miss having dinners with friends and family. I wish they did something like that here.
We have a huge flag run on the beach for July 4th Glenda. All the veteran groups help put it on and it’s quite a site to see hundreds of people running down the beach caring American flags.
Thanks for sharing your photos! I love the “One Nation Under God.” We often forget that those are the words of our forefathers. I look forward to your next post!
Yes we as a nation need to remember these words Kristine. Thanks for visiting.
