In a Pickle

Back in December 2021 I was in a pickle. I had received so many comments that I couldn’t keep up with them. I had close to 400 comments from my faithful readers that I needed to reply to! How did this happen? I had been so busy from August on that I tried to keep up but they keep increasing. It got to the point where I needed to make a challenge out of it to read and reply to so many each day. I challenged myself to get through with them within a month! Could I do it? Well I don’t give up on challenges so I had to do it! Here are the results a month later!

Fast forward to July 2022 and I see myself doing the same thing that I said I wouldn’t do! I am back in a pickle now with over 60 comments that need attention. No where close to the 400 I had last time but I don’t ever want to get that far behind! So my new challenge now is to get through them along with any new ones by the end of the July challenge. That gives me a few weeks! Can I do it? YES I CAN because I love a challenge and sometimes that’s the only way I can complete something that needs to get done!

Of course having all these comments is a good thing, that means my readers are leaving comments and shares and that’s what makes stats go up! So thank you all for your comments, likes and shares! Now I’m off to start my comment challenge! I’ll update my progress soon!

I started my blog on Christmas Day 2014 mainly to review products I received. Since then it has evolved into many other categories of lifestyles, family, money saving ideas, low cost, delicious and healthy meals plus other surprise posts. My granddaughter has her own category, Alex's Articles and the latest addition to my blog is my great granddaughter now has her category, Lia's Likings The Baby Blogger! Lia started blogger at 8 months old and she now has a Friday Story Time blog you won't want to miss! I welcome you to join the conversation, ask a question, give a suggestion or leave a comment on any blog post. I hope you enjoy Lia's Likings, she has some great posts that will make you smile!

Hi Martha, that is quite the pickle to be in! I found I am having a similar issue, but it’s with about 20 spam comments a day. They are rather nice messages, but have spam links to casinos, viagra, and many other strange things. At first, I just ignored them, until they piled up to almost 2,000! I noticed I could pay for a spam program that will delete them for me, but I just doing it manually now until I find a good option at the right price. Any suggestions you have would be awesome! Good luck with your legit comment readings! Sending lots of love. Jaime

Oh yes, the messages seems to “real” until you see the links Jaime! I’m sure you know not to click any of the links but this is just a reminder. I’ve messaged you a few free plugins that I use. Let me know if I can brainstorm any other ideas for you!

Am I adding to your trouble by leaving a comment…?

I am sure you know this, but it is important to reply to comments on the comments that people leave on your blog. Not only does it show that you are listening to what they have to say, but it also encourages them to keep talking to you. If you do not reply, they may think that you do not care about what they have to say and that you are not worth talking to.

A good way to catch up on replying to blog posts when you have so many is to answer some daily. You can choose the most recent and work your way back, or start with the oldest and work your way to the present. Regardless, I would also start to reply to the daily comments for this day going forward. (Does this make sense?)

Oh yes, I have always replied to all my comments, even if it’s just a “nice blog” or “I enjoyed reading your blog” Roy. Last time when I had over 400 stacked up we have family emergencies and even though I kept up with some they mushroomed! I challenged myself to do 20 per day, thinking I would get done in about 3 weeks. To my surprise I replied to all of them within a week! This time it’s no were near that but I never what them to get stacked up so high! I like your idea to start with the most recent and work my way back! I’m starting today and will be caught up before we leave town on the 26th! Thanks for your great ideas!

  4. Martha, you are on top of this now! Now I need to do something similar with clearing paperwork. You know, X amount daily. We can do this! And pickles are for sandwiches!

This is how I get so much done Kebba. I have to challenge myself but it’s fun! Just start with an amount of papers or time to do a project and before you know it, you will be finished! I do find that once I set my mind to something I can wiz through my project!
