I Found My Album

Today is Throwback Thursday and the perfect day to let you all know I found my album! What album you ask? My album filled with pictures of some of the prom and wedding gowns I created starting way back in the early 1970’s. Before computers when most of us had the Kodak camera, I took pictures of the different items I made. I had albums for window treatments, my embroidery projects, dolls and doll clothes, costumes, uniforms and even Jockey racing silks. For some reason my gown album got misplaced when we closed our decorating shop back in 2018 and I thought maybe it accidentally got thrown away. But when cleaning out the leftovers from Alex’s closet a few weeks ago I found my album on the top shelf! I must have but it there for safe keeping.

These are a variety of some gowns I made. When I posted that I found the album, I had some of my FB friends write back excited to see their photos again.

From the early to 80’s for about 8 years Rich and I were in charge of making majorette uniforms for a local dance studio. I made the uniforms and Rich hand sewed on over 20 buttons for each jacket! I even made a faux cabbage patch kid and made her a uniform, including her hat and boots!

During summer horse racing season our neighbor who raced asked if we could make some racing silks for his jockey. That was fun and we even made the helmet covers. Each stable had their own colors and designs, how excited it was to see our silks on the winning jockey!

A few other hidden photos were from different charity Show Houses where designers would each create a room, These were fun because after we were given the room, we could come up with our own designs. The fun we had back in these days and the fun I had looking through all the old photos.

I have a wicker basket filled with the albums from the 70’s through mid 90’s. After that we started digital but the albums were always on our display table in the shop. Looking back through them was quite a thrill and brought back so many fun memories. Not sure what I will do with the albums but I can’t through them away. My daughter said it’s all our memories and to keep them. This was the perfect Throwback Thursday when I found my album and then spent a few hours going through the memories!
Wow!!! The lady who bought our old house in Charlton had it torn down and built a new one in its place. While out driving around, a few years ago, Anne and I stopped there and I got out and talked with the lady, letting her know our connection to her house. She said that you had made her mom’s wedding dress!! I wonder if it’s in your album! Would be so cool to connect with her and share the photo of her mom’s wedding dress, hopefully being worn by her mom!
Yes, the house is beautiful now Nancy! Terry Roy told me about the new owners and her mom but I don’t have a name to do a search. Probably if I heard the name it might ring a bell. LOL I took pictures of must all the wedding gowns I made.
