Honor Americans Who Lost Their Lives
Memorial Day is not the time to say “Happy Memorial Day”, there is nothing happy about seeing families grieve when they have lost a loved one while protecting others. It’s a day to honor Americans that lost their lives while serving in the US Armed Forces.
I have written a few different blogs about Memorial Day since I started my blog and thought this would be a good time to remind others of the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day which some get confused. Memorial Day is a day to remember the brave men and women who died while serving in our country’s armed forces. Veterans Day is a day to honor all military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.
My husband served in the US Army and lost many in his unit while serving. Something that is etched in his mind forever. http://themarthareview.com/never-forget/
Memorial day is a day to remember those who gave their lives for us to life free. http://themarthareview.com/some-gave-all/
Our town holds a Memorial day service to remember and honor those who paid the ultimate price. http://themarthareview.com/memorial-day/
When you say Happy Memorial Day to someone who has lost a loved one just remember it’s not a happy day for them. May God Bless all who served in the US Armed Forces and never returned and also those who died from injuries after serving.
Happy Memorial Day.
We spent the day thinking of the friends we lost, most recently a good friend of mine lost her husband a few years ago from side affects of the war. But we also worked in the yard and added a few more touches to Lia’s garden to bring joy to our yard. Thanks for visiting Amanda.
Perfect description, Martha! Thanks for ensuring folks really know the difference.
Thanks Roy, it bothers my that so many don’t know the difference….or they say “Happy Memorial Day” when there is nothing happy about it.
