I have seen a few home delivery meal companies where the ingredients are shipped and you prepare them yourself.  I decided to try the Home Chef Meal Delivery Service and take advantage of the $30.00 discount offer on my first order. Everything comes ready to prepare in an insulated box filled with ice packs.

The meats are sealed in packages and frozen while the fresh vegetables and other ingredients are all neatly wrapped in plastic.  Each meal is two servings so it’s the perfect amount for two people.  Meals start at $9.95 per serving and delivery is free with a $45.00 order.  I ordered the Black Pepper Salmon and the Maple Cranberry Bone-in Pork Chop for my first two meals and it cost $39.80 plus shipping which brought it just about to $45.00.  So I re-thought my order and added two Blueberry Honey Smoothies and that brought the total over $45.00 so I got the free delivery for the same price as just the four meals. With the $30.00 coupon, it cost $19.80 for everything!

 

I haven’t tried the smoothie yet but the picture looks delicious and it even comes with a container of fresh/frozen blueberries.

Along with the ingredients for each meal, there is a nice 8″ by 10″ instruction sheet with step by step photos plus a binder to save all the recipes in. They are broken down with how to prepare the ingredients, cook the vegetables and serve the delicious meal on the plate.  All the meals have nutrition information listed also so you know how many calories, carbs, fat, protein and sodium your meal has.

I prepared the Black Pepper Salmon with the vegetables consisting of zucchini, tomatoes and green onions for dinner and it was easy to prepare and delicious!  The nice thing about these meals, you can modify them to your own taste.

This comes with hot honey butter with red pepper flakes to drizzle over the salmon when cooked, but I prefer melted butter with lemon.  So I saved the hot honey butter mixture to use on something else.
