Happy Thanksgiving
Today is Thanksgiving and our family is wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!
This was a turkey that got pardoned a few years ago and hopefully he is still wandering around the fields in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park where I snapped his picture.
When my granddaughter was about 7 years old she wrote me this note for Thanksgiving. Alexandra is now 25 years old and I still have her letter.
For over 17 years, this has been our Thanksgiving dinner centerpiece. Alexandra covered a coffee can with batting and fabric, tied some rope twine around the top and added leaves to the coffee can. I still have her beautiful masterpiece and this will once again be our Thanksgiving day centerpiece today.
The feast is planned, the turkey is in the oven along with ham, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, stuffing, rolls, pies and of course Lia’s homemade chocolate chip cookies. Again, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from Lia and me!
Martha, Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing your images today. Your dinner is almost exactly what my mother served. One thing– my father enjoyed creamed tiny onions, so we generally had those. How is your weather over there?
Oh Kebba, were they creamed tiny onions? I forgot all about my grandmother making them! Our weather is cool in the mornings but warms up during the day.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We will be going to a beach restaurant with a thatched roof and very few tourists where we will enjoy today’s catch, cooked to order. Walking barefoot in the sand while they cook our fish, We raise turkeys on our farm and will save the turkey dinner until a later date. No work in the kitchen today.
What a fun Thanksgiving that sounds like Chef William! I’m sure you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Love the letter of yore! Have a wonderful celebration.
The letter is an oldie but goodie Roy. Definitely a keeper, both the letter and granddaughter!
Your Thanksgiving sounds like a wonderful blend of the past, the present and the future.
So do you eat turkey at all, now that you’re friends with Mr Smoky Mountains?
Either way, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
In Switzerland Thanksgiving is not a thing. We go to school and work just like on any other day. It’s still a special day for us though because it’s when the Elf on the Shelf is back 🙂
I love have a blend of the past on holidays Tamara. Yes we still eat turkey, just not the Smoky Mountain ones! LOL
I know you had a beautiful day! Happy post Thanksgiving Day to you and yours!
We have a wonderful day Kate! I hope you and your family had the same!
Happy Late Thanksgiving. We had a busy day.
