Go Getter Who Loves a Challenge

I am a go getter who loves a challenge. Way back when I first got on the World Wide Web, probably around 2000, I started following some earning sites. I would do surveys, small tasks, print out coupons and watch videos for points. The points were then converted to gift cards or Paypal. Back then there were many sites that would start up, stick around for a few years then vanish. But it was fun while they lasted.

It was in 2013 when one of my Facebook friends sent me an invite for another earning site so I signed up. The site was Swagbucks where you earn points like all the others. I piddled around on it for a few months and found I really wasn’t earning anything exciting so I more or less forgot about it. But when I kept seeing my friend saying he cashed out for $50.00 over and over I decided to revisit the site. In June 2014 I started back at Swagbucks, figured out the strategy and started working at it steady. Since June 2014 until June 2019 I didn’t miss month were I got the bonus for completing goal every day! You can actually earn good pocket change and have fun at the same time but things were getting super busy and I decided to “retire” from Swagbucks June 2019 and not worry about goal everyday.

Fast forward to June 2020 and I started back at it and I’m back to making goal every day again! Some might wonder where this is taking me so here is the rest of my story.

Back on July 4th there was an offer on Swagbucks where you could earn 200,000 points (which is $200.00) if you signed up as a driver for Uber Eats. The requirements of the offer was to sign up, make at least one delivery, send in a screen shot of the date and you would receive the points. So I’m thinking, $200.00 is a good amount of cash and it might be fun to just try it out and if I didn’t like it, I could cancel but still get the $200.00.

We made it a family affair, Rich drives, I pick up the order at the restaurant and we deliver to the address listed all while Lia (if she rides with us) is in her seat telling pop to turn right or left, stop at the red light, get going on the green. She is singing or following the map on her phone and we all have a great time together. Some times we take a break to get Lia a snack.

We usually only go out a few days a week and when Lia is with us we are always back home before dark. But there have been a few afternoons when we’ve gone out and our navigator has actually fallen asleep on the job!

Two of our favorite take out places are Jersey Mike’s subs and Zaxby’s for their salad. The other day a double order came in, it was for Jersey Mike’s and Zaxby’s! Our truck smelled so good while delivering. Double orders are great, some pay almost $50.00 including a hefty tip.

So here is where the challenge in me comes in… you may remember my saga a few days about all our appliances and upstairs AC/heat pump dying so I decided to set a goal and earn enough to pay for our new stove.

I set goal at $100.00 a week or $50,00 per day we delivered and so far we have well surpassed that goal each week since signing up. In only four weeks we earned enough from Uber Eats to pay for our new stove! We have never had such a high tech stove, it has a regular plus convection oven, an air fryer and dehydrator all in one. Alex also set up the app for the oven and we can give it instructions when we aren’t even home! I call this our Uber stove.

Since I saw how quickly we were able to make enough for our stove, I’m now setting the challenge to earn enough to “pay us back” for the new refrigerator. I haven’t even received the credit card statement for that yet so we are on the way to pay that off with Uber also.

Funny ending, I think it was when we were in week two of Uber Eats, we were home, Lia was on the couch with my phone playing a game. I was in the kitchen when all of a sudden I heard the Uber chime which means we have a delivery to except. I ran over to Lia, she had already accepted the gig! Quickly we threw on her shoes and dashed out to the restaurant! I think that was the fastest we all moved in a long time! LOL I’m not sure how she even turned the app on but after that day I showed her what not to touch and everything as been running smooth. We are all having fun while we go out to deliver our Uber Eats and I am a go getter who loves a challenge for sure!

This is what I just received in my Uber mail. We started delivering on July 9th, on August 9th we got to the 100 delivery mark! It only took 24 days delivering a few hours each day to reach this goal!

Ok, you have me I’m being giving this a try…Unfortunately, I will have to leave the dogs at home with the food or put them in the back of the truck (I have a cap on the back for their safety…..but it will ensure my safety while out and about and allow me to give them a ride. Wish Lia was my riding buddy though- do I mention Lia too often? LOL! I feel as if I know her well……hey email me and send me an address, I am not sure if I still have your return address around and would like to send my fellow August girl a birthday card.

Cool story! I am impressed. So, what’s Lia’s cut? She is the navigator, what’s her rate? LOL

Lis is such a great navigator Dominique! She tells pop to turn right or left and to slow down at a yellow light and stop on red. So she’s learning while navigating. As for Lia’s cut, she get’s the cash tips which she saves in her bank!

  7. Who knew Uber Eats could be so lucrative.

  8. Great story! I was on Swagbucks for a while and MyPoints. Just couldn’t keep up with it. Now I mostly stick to apps where I can scan receipts for points. With all the research I do online, I get points for doing all my searches on Bing/Edge through Microsoft. They even have a plug-in for shopping discounts and more.

  9. Great goals, Martha, I love your strategy of paying off all your new appliances. Technology lesson learned by, Lia :D, those things will happen. Glad you are having fun with this as a family, that is a great lesson for the young ones to learn. Thank you for sharing. Sending lot of love and gratitude. Jaime

By having a safety net for breakdowns, we don’t have to charge things (Which I hate to do) Uber has made it easy to replenish our emergency savings Jaime.
