Gift Ideas When Turning One

YAY it’s Friday Story Time by Lia again! Last week it was Ask Me Anything and ma posted for our readers to come up with questions they want answered. Ma wrote about a question Jaime asked yesterday so today it’s my turn. Victoria asked me I could give her some birthday suggestions for her granddaughter’s 1st birthday. It was only three years ago since I was one so I have good gift ideas when turning one!

This was one of my favorites for drawing both at home and when in the car. The magnetic drawing board has a magic pen and when you draw on the screen, it turns into different colors! It also came with stamps that I could press on the screen and the picture would show up! This is really cool for a one year old! There is no mess and after you are finished drawing, you just swipe the little green button and it cleans the screen to start another picture!

Every little one NEEDS a big set of building blocks! These MEGA BLOCKS are great for little hands and easy to snap the blocks together and build towers! This is me around my 1st birthday playing with my blocks.

Want to know a secret? Blocks are so much fun to play with! This first picture was me when I was 1 year old playing with my blocks and the other picture is me now! Even though I’m almost 4 years old, I still love to build with my blocks. This is a princess being saved by a prince that I made!

If you granddaughter likes to play outside, you should get her a lawn mower to help mow the lawn. But this isn’t just any lawn mower, it’s a bubble mower! My pop puts bubbles in the tank and when I would push the mower, the bubbles come out and float all around! This is so much fun for a little one!

OMG this is a must for a one year old and it can be used outdoors or inside! It’s a play tunnel that I would crawl through and could go in four different directions! There is a big opening in the center for little ones to stand up and check out what’s going on then they pop back down and start crawling around again! Carlos and I had so much fun when he came over to play, we would chase each other in the tunnel. The nice thing about this, when I was done playing with it, the tunnel collapses into a flat circle and stores in a storage bag for the next playday! Another secret, I still play with my tunnel, Snowball loves to run through it and chase me!

I hope these fun things gave you some ideas for your granddaughter’s 1st birthday! From drawing, to building or mowing the lawn to an adventure in a tunnel, I think she would love any of these Victoria!

Gift ideas for turning one has been a fun topic to write about for my Friday Story Time by Lia, it also brought back memories when I was a one year old! Thanks for the great question Victoria!

    Awww, such great recommendations!
Fells like a looong time ago that Colin turned one! The most memorable “gift” was his birthday cake. He was allowed to eat it by himself, and we had to change his clothes afterwards. It was a raspberry cake. He looked adorable 🙂

Colin must have had fun, I love raspberries Tamara! On my 1st birthday I ate my cake by myself and mommy said I fell asleep in my hi-chair! LOL

  3. Thanks, Lia these are perfect gifts. My oldest grandson had the tunnel and still uses his bubble lawn mower. My youngest grandson just turned one last week and his party is tomorrow. I can’t wait to see him dig into that cake 🙂 Have a fun weekend!

I still use my tunnel and Snowball likes to chase me in it Maria. Happy Birthday to your grandson, I’m sure he will love his cake!

Hi Lia, love the pictures and ideas for a 1 year old. I remember I had an etch a sketch that I could make images on, then wipe away to make something different. That was fun. I never had the tunnel, but that looks like a ton of fun! I will have to remember these ideas for anyone who is having a first birthday party. Happy Friday ladies.

The tunnel is lots of fun even now that I’m almost 4 Samantha. I also got a bounce house for my 2nd birthday and use that all the time, so much fun.

  5. Lia, what great ideas! And I burst out laughing when I saw you mowing the lawn in your jeans, looking so serious! I want a lawn mower that blows bubbles!!!

  6. Lia, these are fantastic suggestions! I’m going to check them all out. Thank you!

  7. Great blog post Lia! Keep writing!
