Front Porch Chatting

If you were sitting on your front porch chatting with your blog readers over coffee, what would you chat about? Today Lia is stealing the show again and she will be chatting with you over grape juice instead of coffee!

Hi, I so glad you stopped by to chat with me! Would you like some grape juice and cookies while I tell you about my baking project I’m doing today?

It seems like such a long time since ma and I have done a baking project so today was the day to start. It’s also Wordless Wednesday so I have lots of pictures to share with you! But like ma, I also have lots of words to share! Today I’m making chocolate chip cookies and I have all my ingredients ready! I used the recipe on the back of Nestle Toll House chocolate chip bag.

First I started by adding the butter and both granulated and brown sugars, mixing them until all blended together. Check out the videos ma took of me adding the ingredients. After the eggs were added I mixed everything together again.

Now it’s time to measure the flour and baking soda and add to the mixture I have all ready mixed together. I carefully measure the flour then pour it in the mixing bowl.

After thing is mixed together and time for a taste test. Oh my, this cookie dough is delicious!

Time for the finally ingredient, the chocolate chips! I carefully measured the chips and poured them in the mixing bowl and blended them with the batter.

Of course you know I have to do another taste test with the chocolate chips added! Ma told me I wasn’t going to have any batter left to bake into cookies if I kept eating it!

I dropped the dough into a baking sheet and they are ready for the oven! How do you like my dinosaur apron? Mommy’s and my friend Sara from Indiana sent to to me my for my birthday and I love it!

Look at my delicious cookies, hot out of the oven! Ma made a special request to add coconut to the last batch and I of course agreed. She said they are the best chocolate chip with coconut cookies she has had! Which variety would you like with your grape juice? Or would you rather have a glass of cold milk with warm cookies?

I love baking but there was one more thing I had to do. My friend Carlos is sick and I thought if I took him some cookies it would make him feel better. He was sleeping when we went over so I put them on their front bench. I told his mom to give him a big hug from me. I hope he gets better soon because we need a play day together real soon!

Well the cookies are done, they tasted delicious and I hope you all enjoyed our front porch chatting as much as I did visiting with all of you. We have to do this again! But know I have to go get things ready for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!

  1. Lia, yum yum! I used to bake a lot, and chocolate chip cookies were among my favorites. I like to put dried cherries in them–awesome! Sorry to hear Carlos is sick. I hope he is better very soon.

  2. Hey Lia, I enjoyed chatting with you, today! I love chocolate chip cookies and I’m sure yours taste delicious. I know Carlos will enjoy them. They may even help him to feel better sooner. 😊

Lia, you did a fantastic job!
Chocolate chip cookies are among my favorite treats! (No coconut necessary for me – more for Ma, she’ll be happy, too, right?)
Thank you for sharing your recipe. Have you ever tried to “brown” the butter before adding it? Basically cooking it down until some of the water evaporates, and your butter smells somewhat caramelized. To compensate for the lost water, add a few ice cubes. Or do what I do: frozen espresso cubes = my secret ingredient!
I hope Carlos is feeling better, so the two of you can get together soon.
