Fresh Vegetables
OUR FRESH VEGETABLES ARE READY!
Our six-week old vegetable garden is growing like leaps and bounds! I wrote a blog when it was in the third week and I can’t get over the growth in just three more weeks! The Beginning of my Raised Bed Vegetable Garden
In three weeks from when I wrote my first blog, the garden had full-grown vegetables. How excited I was this afternoon when I went to our garden and picked some delicious vegetables!
The summer squash are loaded on the vines and I picked four good ones for dinner tomorrow night. We have more delicious peppers and I like to freeze the extra ones so I can have them for stir fry.
Our cucumbers are so long, they look more like the size of zucchini squash! We planted both green and yellow string beans and I was so impatient for them, I picked the three, yes three yellow beans and cooked them up with butter. So delicious and I can’t wait to pick a full basket of them. I’m still patiently waiting to see an eggplant pop out of the blossoms.
BEE-utiful!! !LOL! Great gardening you guys!
Thanks Katherine, I so enjoy it plus with all the greenery and blossoms, it adds color to our back yard. Stuffed peppers are on the menu tomorrow!
I am green with envy! What a gorgeous garden! We live out in the country and had to finally stop having a garden three years ago because the deer ate everything. We’d tried everything in the prior years, and as long as the deer left us enough to eat I tried to adopt a “live and let live” attitude. The last garden we had, though, the deer ate the tomato plants, the green bean plants, the bell pepper plants, the squash plants, the corn, the cucumber vines, and even the okra leaves. It looked like I’d planted a row of sticks where the okra stalks were left. All we got out of our garden that year was six radishes. Those turned out to be some expensive radishes! LOL! Now we enjoy vegetables from the farmer’s market and a sixth-generation farm in our county that sells wonderful produce, but I surely do miss having my own garden. Your vegetables are beautiful! You’re being rewarded for all your hard work. Thanks for sharing the photos! I enjoy your blog.
Oh Janet, that must have been so heartbreaking to see your hard work go to the deer! We had a rabbit problem a few years ago so we surrounded the garden with chicken wire and that seemed to help. The rabbits are gone and I’m watching daily to make sure no critters decide to have lunch! I love supporting our farmers markets also, of course they have so much more of a variety than my tiny garden but I still love my crops! Thanks for visiting my garden, I’m making stuffed peppers tomorrow in case your hungry! LOL
I’m ready but the garden isn’t! We just planted in the north ….. Lovely garden!
I remember having to wait so long to plant our garden when we lived up north. But the good thing about gardening there, it doesn’t die out quick when it gets so hot in the summer. I love the raised bed garden, it decorates the yard as well as gives us delicious vegetables. Thanks for stopping by my garden Savvy Age.
Wonderful news Martha. This look fabulous, recently my mother started gardening too and I know how you feel when you the fruit of your labor. Freshness and quality guaranteed…. great effort!
That it is Abhinav, freshness and quality without any pesticides. I found our first eggplant this evening hiding under one of the giant leaves! I hope your mother is enjoy her garden as much as I am mine.
Wow, awesome garden Martha. I can’t wait to be able to have a garden myself. I need a house first lol. Baby steps.
Even though my garden is small, it puts out a good amount of vegetables. When you get your house, you can make a garden as large or small as needed! Good luck on getting a house, then on the the garden. Thanks for stopping by Kasia.
This is lovely! I’m sure it’s nice to see the benefits of your hard work. Thanks for sharing!
I’m like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus! Every morning and evening I peek under the leaves to see what’s new! I love fresh vegetables Echoesofhervoice!
One’s love for agriculture can be seen by the colours in their garden and effort they put in. Well done Martha.
Thanks Elvis. I remember the large garden we had when I was young. I loved helping my dad plant, weed and harvest the vegetables. We had rows and rows of baking beans and would hang them in the upstairs of our garage to dry, then shell them by the bushels. Oh the members of way back when. Our yard isn’t large enough for a garden bigger than our 8′ square, but I sure do enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by.
The vegetables look great. 🙂 I’ve always wanted to grow my own vegetables but time doesn’t allow for that.
Thanks Chi! Our garden is a small 8′ x 8′ raised bed garden but it yields many delicious vegetables. I work all day so don’t have time for a larger one but there’s nothing better than fresh picked vegetables for dinner! Thanks for visiting.
