FREEZING SUMMER SQUASH
FREEZING SUMMER SQUASH
I love summer squash and no matter how many I have, freezing summer squash is so easy. It’s quick and easy and ready to cook up at any time. All you need is squash, a knife for slicing, a baking pan and a freezer bag.
I wash the squash and cut in thin slices. Next I lay the squash slices on a baking pan and freeze for about 30 minutes.
They will be frozen individually and I put in a freezer storage bag. Make sure to date the bag so you use the oldest dates first.
I love to fry up the squash, sometimes I have just squash, other times I add peppers and onions to the mix. This is such a quick and easy way to fill your freezer and a delicious and filling meal.
That’s neat, Martha! I love squash (yummy).
I like all squash but summer squash is my favorite. I’m so glad I have a big freezer so I can stock up for the winter. Stir fry makes such a quick, easy, filling and inexpensive meal. Thanks for stopping by Jeanine.
Nice tutorial!
Thanks Savvy Age. It’s such an easy process and since I don’t have a lot of extra time, I can prepare this while I’m making dinner. Hoping for an even bigger garden next year!
How long can you freeze squash for?
I love yellow squash it is my favorite type of squash.
I have kept it frozen for up to 6 – 8 months Sandy. You can also blanch the squash after slicing and that can kept up to a year. The way I prepare it for freezing, it’s not mushy when I cook it. Yellow squash is my favorite too!
Nice! Great advice!! I like to freeze my zucchini…in the form of zucchini bread!! 😉
Oh I remember when my grandmother would make zucchini bread! Our freezer was loaded all winter long! Thanks for stopping by Cindy.

This way I can have “fresh” squash all winter! I just made some the other day, delicious!
