It’s Day 3 of the UBC and so far the month isn’t going as planned. I have a frozen shoulder which gave me upper back pain along with a headache. It’s been bothering me for about 6 weeks but I usually work through pain. When I broke down and went to the Orthopedic doctor he sternly told me not to force my arm farther than I could move it without pain. Duh, now he tells me, I think that’s what I’ve been doing for the past weeks, stretching it beyond the limit. So last week I had a cortizone shot then started physical therapy. But I’m tough and will get through it. Yesterday I told Lia I needed a topic for my blog, she thought for a few minutes and then said, “How about flowers?” So flowers it is!

I love spring when all our flowers start to bud and bloom! My favorite is the huge azalea bush in Mom’s Memory Garden. We planted it as a tiny plant when she passed away in 2000 and now it’s about 5′ wide! It’s full of bees collecting the nectar.

Of course the other beautiful blooms are the roses in both Mom’s Memory Garden and Lia’s Reflection Garden. They were full of buds a few weeks ago until frost arrived. But some are already in bloom and many more will be opened soon.

Our Wisteria also has the start of what Lia calls little grapes! Once they start blooming, the bush will be full of beautiful hanging purple flowers. While Wisteria is considered an invasive plant, pruning is needed to keep it under control. It’s also highly toxic to dogs, our vine is on a part of the fence that dogs can’t get to.

Besides flowers, the bees are working in full force, our holly bush is loaded with honey bees . This is another bush we planted from mom’s funeral as a tiny little bush and now it’s up to the second story window!

Yesterday afternoon we had a hummingbird stop by our feeder! It’s hard to capture a good video because I didn’t want to get too close and scare him away. But I love watching them hover in mid air!

My sister gave me some Amaryllis bulbs years ago and I love when they are in full bloom.  These are native to South Africa and are also known as belladonna lilies even though they are not being true lilies.

I love pansies, this plant is the first one for Lia’s wheelbarrow wild flowers. Once she has them planted and blooming, she will share pictures!

Sometimes it seems funny how I come up with blog topic ideas and I’m so glad Lia is right beside me offering ideas. We all love flowers, they bring happiness and sunshine, so flowers it is!

As I said before, you can never go wrong with flowers!
I’m so sorry about your shoulder! Take it easy and keep letting Lia collaborate with you for blog ideas.

Honestly, my challenge is not going so well this time either. Life is full of demands that take precedence over the blog. We can only do what we can do, but I like your approach—you can do something even if it’s not a big long epic story. Take it easy and don’t fret!
