Flower Gifts

Most everyone loves flower gifts but they only have a limited time we can enjoy their beauty. What if we could keep them forever? How I love all of Rich’s roses and even the neighbors stop by to see them and gave me an idea.

Since my oven has a dehydrating mode I decided to check it out with flowers. This was my “trial” bunch, I put them on parchment paper and a baking rack then in the the oven they went.

About an hour later they were dried and while the color left some of them, I thought they were still pretty. Now what shall I do with them?

It was near my dear friend’s birthday and I had some cool jars I had purchased at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. They were on Thanksgiving clearance for fifty cents each and couldn’t pass them up! So I filled one with a little colored sand, some glass beads and dried flowers. Since she was with me when the butterfly landed on my arm last September, I added a butterfly to your jar. Judy love her gift!

This is another one I made for my daughter for Mother’s Day. I am truly blessed to have her as my daughter.

This is a tiny jar, about 4″ high and 2″ diameter but it’s perfect as a gift for someone special. I added some little white beads to this for my granddaughter.

I hope you like my little craft project idea. If you’re not into flowers, the jars are also great for my homemade trail mix to give as gifts.

I love these ideas! Thank you for sharing. It always makes me sad to throw out the flowers people give me. I will give it a try!
I’m like you, sad to see the flowers thrown out. There are so many craft projects that can be done with them. Thanks for visiting Claudia!
So many cute ideas, Martha!!! 🙂 Thank you for sharing. There is nothing more beautiful than Nature herself!
Thanks Safrianna, I love coming up with different ideas and I especially love giving homemade gifts. I call them gifts from the heart.
Great idea. The flowers are so pretty.
Thanks for visiting Janet, I love how the flowers can now last forever.
What a great idea to extend the life of your beautiful roses.
Thanks Cheryl, I have to work on the temperature of the dehydrator mode and see if I can preserve more color in them.
What a nice way to create a “memory box.” ! I can see those flowers being added to homemade potpourri too.
Oh Angie, I never thought of combining them with potpourri! You gave me another blog idea, thanks!
